No, I can’t. I can, however, draw a straight line (with a ruler) and some circles (with cans). I found these little canvases at Big Lots for $3.00 each and thought, “What the heck”.
I’m redoing my daughter’s room, and these retro trees fit perfectly. Lucky for me, the simple lines of these trees were easy for me to do.
I used some different sized cups, tins, etc. (whatever I could find) to make an outline for these circles. Then, I just filled them in with a paint brush.
For all the little circles, I used round sponge brushes I bought at the craft store. They are, perhaps, one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. They’re so easy to use, and it seems like I’m always painting a circle somewhere!
Okay, so it’s not Van Gogh by any means, but they’ll look really cute in her room! Once they’re up and on display, I’ll show you! Not bad for $6.00, I guess.
I love it! They came out really cute.

Great job! I was trying to make wall art on my own for the new baby's nursery and all I could come up with was framing scrapbook paper :-( Although I am reusing frames that I painted and will be hanging them with ribbon so that is creative, right?

Props on the great paintings! How were you planning to hang them? Have you thought of ribbon? I saw this http://www.flickr.com/photos/dudadaze/3507144161/ and thought that might be fun for a girls room. As Mom to one dear Son, I never get to do anything with pink or ribbon. ;0)

ReplyDeleteNow see ... I'd NEVER buy a canvas because I would think I could never really do anything with it. I can't paint either. But look at that! Cute as can be. And I bet they are perfect for your daughter's room.
ReplyDeleteSO cute!! I need to fix my bloglines - you never show up anymore. Didn't want you to think I was ignoring you Oprah - I know you are my money "tree." Get it, you painted "trees," get it? By the way, I have a cold so the drugs are making me think I'm funny when I'm not. -Gayle.
ReplyDeleteThese are soooooo cute! What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteGreat Job! It "just" takes that first step to realize how much you can accomplish!
ReplyDeleteVery very cute!!!!
ReplyDeleteVery Cute!
ReplyDeleteI love your paintings. The simplicity of the designs is wonderful. Cannot wait to see them in your daughter's room.
ReplyDeleteI love them! I was just watching a color splash episode on hgtv and he was talking about how all of us can paint a picture. I was skeptical but after seeing yours-I'm thinking maybe! I have a wall in my master that needs something and I don't know what. Maybe I will venture. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteThey look better than okay, they're fantastic, and completely unique, which is the best part of all. For $6 you can't even buy a picture frame. Great job!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the paintings!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThey turned out so cute. I bet your daughter will love them.
ReplyDeleteThey actually came out nice. Just perfect for your kids' room. And you are very creative indeed. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Just a Girl,
ReplyDeleteThis is my first visit and I came
over from a link from Kimba. I think your trees are adorable, and so clever. I am sure your daughter will also love that mommy
made them just for her.
Keep up the good work. I always say where there is a Will, there is a way to make your home beautiful.
Blessings, Nellie
