Little Light O’ Mine

Are you anything like me and have a bunch of this around the house?

IMG_7260

And by this, I don’t mean a counter full of groceries waiting to be put away.  I can’t really decorate, blog, and work around the house, can I???  Something must suffer.

IMG_7265

Well, I do have a lot of this.  Lamps that I find on clearance, don’t really have a place for, but just can’t leave on the shelf.

Lucky for me, I have a classroom (a really big classroom) that was just begging for some feminine lamp love.  How about these?

Are you noticing a pattern to these at all?  I’ll tell you.  Bright colors.  I’m a neutral girl, remember?  Being in my classroom allows for me to decorate “out of the box” so to speak.  Plus, the color makes me smile when I’m grading my 3,426th paper.

Just in case you’re wondering what one of my all-time favorite decorating tips is (and I’m sure you’ve been wondering that for a long time), it’s changing out a lamp.  Think I’m joking?

IMG_7299 None of these lamps came out of the store looking like this.

IMG_7307 A little extra cording here, a little splash of paint there…

And, of course, the ol’ fabric on the lampshade trick is my favorite.

That’s just a sampling!  Seriously…I have more.  Well, I hope you enjoyed the little tour!  I’ll come back later to show you what the lamps look like in their new home.
