A couple of things I forgot to tell you in yesterday’s post.
1. I spent the majority of my vacation in Naples. (My best friend lives there.) However, we traveled to Siesta Key, Fort Myers, and Sanabel.
2. I did wear sunscreen. I started with a 30 (only for 45 minutes) and then wore a protective 50. Still burned. Go figure.
One of my favorite parts of my trip was traveling through Naples’ Port Royal area. Think “homes I’ll never be able to afford”. We saw a lot of these…
But I quickly realized that I was falling in love with the mailboxes in the area. Yes. Mailboxes.
The next two are my favorite! Look at those pink flowers!
I just love the state-liness of the vine covered boxes. I would smile every time I went out to get the mail.
So I wonder. Do they offer a mortgage plan on a mailbox? ‘Cause I just might have to look into that.
When I saw the pics from the beach, I immediately thought Sanibel. My family has vacationed there for many years-usually at the Loggerhead Cay. Must have been tough to go home...it always is for us!
ReplyDeleteLove the mailboxes, too!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely! Looks like you had a wonderful trip.
ReplyDeleteHey, a few years ago, I betcha they would have given you a mortgage on a mailbox. Maybe not so much these days, but a girl can dream. ;)

Very cool mailboxes! Do you think that would make getting advertising flyers and bills any more fun to pick up? (It seems to be the only thing we get in the mail these days on a regular basis!)
ReplyDeleteI love Sanibel! Used to live in Fort Myers! Got sunburned last week too.....we must be related!
ReplyDeleteI always look at mailboxes! I love the huge white iron ones.
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE Florida!! Everything there is so beautiful and lush...even the mailboxes! :)
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! Love those mailboxes!
ReplyDeleteLucky you! We used to vacation in Ft. Myers Beach and Sanibel when I was young. I would love to go back. Beautiful pics!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful vacation and the mailboxes are wonderful
ReplyDeleteI look forward to your mailbox makover!
Those are great pictures. makes me wish we even had a mailbox, rather than a mail slot at the end of the street!
ReplyDeletePlease stop by my blog for a blog award! :)
ReplyDeleteI am definitely going to have to do that to our mailbox. There are a few people around here that do it, but none of them look as great as those. We have two mailboxes together, so I would have to clear it with my neighbor. They are in her yard. I am sure she will love the idea. ;0)
ReplyDeleteFirst off... I love your blog!
ReplyDeleteSo funny about Naples... I go there a couple of time a year and know the houses you saw, they are amazing! My mom's house was right by 5th street and 3rd in old Naples near Gordon, I loved it!
Never been there...so funny the pics of the mailboxes. But I can see your fascination. They are really cool:)
ReplyDeleteI live right off Siesta Key in Sarasota, and my brother in Naples - sadly, neither of us can afford those mailboxes - but they are GORGEOUS
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures of the mailboxes! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletesounds like you had a wonderful vacation. I don't live far from Siesta Key, love those mailboxes.

ReplyDeleteHey...If you can fit your family into one of those little suckers...I say go for it!
ReplyDeleteFLorida, WATCH OUT. Girl will be taking small house living to the extreme!
I see a cable deal here.
Those mailboxes are almost unrecognizable. But those are very creative mailboxes! Thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeletelove the mailboxes! and i would plant a whole bunch of flowers around mine, but sweet husband says that the mail carrier wouldn't appreciate it.....bees, he claims.
ReplyDeleteYes Naples Fl is one of the richest areas in the US
ReplyDeleteThe homes there are unbelieveable!

ReplyDeleteRonda
I think I have commented before but just wanted to make sure I told you that I really enjoy your blog! You have a great sense of humor and I love all your little projects! Nancy from OHIO (I do not have a blog.)
ReplyDeleteHow ya feeling? Love the mailboxes~
ReplyDeleteI have done the same thing in Naples. My goodness. And you're right about the mailboxes. We want to see how you make a million-dollar mailbox out of a couple things you pick up at the thrift store. :)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, while I think Naples is beautiful, you know where I think the summers are really gorgeous? Michigan. We lived in Hillsdale for seven years, and I thought the summertime there was incomparable. Now the spring (i.e. March, April). . .that's another story. But the summertime--wow. Hope you're enjoying it!
Take care!

Those mailboxes are so beautiful. I would love to do that to my mailbox but it would get trashed for sure. We dared paint ours to look nice and it has been hit twice. We now have it held together with black zip ties and they have left it alone! Go figure!
ReplyDeletewe have a house on Captiva (adjacent to Sanibel). next time i'm there i am so taking a picture of our mailbox for you! :)
