Do you ever buy things just because you think they're pretty--fully intending to use them for some "higher purpose"--only to get them home and use them as, well, decoration? That is my problem with boxes. I buy them, and my argument tends to be, "Well, they're not just to look at. I can use them for storage too!". Jeanette has the above boxes in her closet, and they look spectacular. Every inch of that closet looks spectacular! But what in the world goes in them?! Yeah...hmmm...storage.
Hey, I'm a hard-working woman. I can buy these without them having to serve a dual purpose, but what a bummer! There's got to be something I can put in these things, right? These are in my guest room. Sure are pretty--sure are non-functioning!
My daughter's room is nooooo problem. She's got boxes and little tins (remember Target?) galore that are just meant to house little shoes the size of a pebble.
I even bought boxes for my office desk thinking, "Well, of course, I'll find a use for them in there. Nope. Nothing. Zilch. Do have some faith in me. I have places already for many things, so it's not like I just don't have a clue. However, there's gotta be some innovative idea that I'm missing here.

Okay, I need those brown boxes in your office. Where did you find them? I'd stick small supplies in them like extra rolls of tape, staples, etc. along with one designated for stationery or other small bits. Love them!
I found you through The Restyled Home blog. I had to comment! I love the boxes! I own the first one in your post. :o)
Hey girl!
I use boxes like that to file next years tax reciepts and old used checks!
Welcome!
I have a use for them. I have two similar boxes sitting on my fire place (which is next to a built in bookshelf where our phone is). One box has a flashlight and candles and matches just in case the electricity goes out or we need to light the fireplace (we don't use it very often). The other box has our PHONE BOOKS in it! This is probably one of the smartest things I ever did with them because those phone books are so ugly and bulky and I definitely don't want them displayed on my bookshelf.
HTH!
