Well, since it IS his birthday, I will refrain from calling him my nemesis. That's right. Maximus turned one yesterday. Lucky for us, he will still be in his puppy stage for another year because of his "giant breed-ness".
One of my former students who I now consider my friend (tells you how old I'm getting) bought Maximus's sister (Cabo). So, we had a birthday party for them. Well, we grilled out, let the dogs play, and sat around while the girls complained about the dogs and the boys said how cool they are.
My student's husband HATES how much bigger Maximus is than their dog. I offered to trade so I could have something smaller, but my husband just glared at me. Oops. This is about the extent of the photo shoot. Blurry pictures, one dog leaving the shot, and Maximus staring with a mad, crazy, wild look in his eyes because he was so hyper!
Well, I'm off to mop up all the drool and splattered slobber on my walls and furniture. Oh, and I'm gonna have to shovel up the dog hair. I'll try to come back later for a more "fun" post.

Happy Birthday to Maximus!
Happy Birthday to your pup! I have a confession to make. I just read your entire blog! That's right I read the whole thing while my children played board games on the floor, when I really should have been doing some constructive mom chore.
I love your house! Love the style love your decor. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT.
Okay off I go to add you to my google reader. Hope you don't mind another reader!
:)R.
Happy Birthday Max. He looks like so much fun. My daughter saw the pictures of him and just said (HUGE)dog! Guess you get alot of that, smile. Susie H
Happy Birthday To Maximus!
But I have a little something to tell you...I have a large breed to. A German Shepherd. Brinks. He didn't calm down until he was 3 years old. I was always told 2 years and was counting down the days. So maybe don't put too much stock in that just yet?? Hopefully things will be better for you though and he'll calm down sooner than Brinks did ;)
Happy Birthday to the Nemesis...I mean Max! I think you know, we just got a puppy but he's considered a "medium" breed although I would call a potential 70 pounds large. Nevertheless, does a medium breed calm down before a year? I sure hope so!
Oh yeah, it's a good THREE years before ANY dog starts to act less "puppy-ish". My Maximus is 2 years and 4 months, and he's still a bad boy. But I love him! Now I'm off to clean up more potty. :-(
ha ha that is one huge house puppy!
those are some beautiful dogs! I am enjoying your blog! First time reader here!! Love that you are the "things".... good old Doc Seuss!
Ha... I thought I was the only one who had a love/hate relationship with their dog! Ha. Actually... all my animals. :) I hate the hair! But the dog is worst of all... she's a black lab, golden retriever mix... she looks like a golden but is all black. Long hair... blah! She's not exactly the smartest cookie either... but my kids love her... so I love that they love her... and allow her to remain. Funniest part of it all is that it was my idea to get her... of course, that was before I had found out I was pregnant... which I found out two weeks after getting her as a puppy... I had my hands full! Anyway... nice to know someone else shares my pain! :)
