Kids Art Storage

I told myself I didn't have time to blog today, because I'm packing a family of four for a 24-hour road trip. Insert nervous giggle here. However, after reading a new blog called West Nest, I was compelled to help a sister out ('cause that's what we do, right?). I've linked to her in the hopes that you'll go visit her--all 8 of you. If I get to Florida and find that I only have a bathing suit top and some dental floss packed, we will all blame "the newbie" (said like Seinfeld to Newman, of course).

Anywho, she asked what people do with their kids art work. I know we've all got it, and I know we're all wondering what in the heck to do with it. I have said before that I am a fan of incorporating my kids art into my decor. I don't necessarily want it to BE my decor, but it's nice as an accent.

Most of the artwork has found it's way to my foyer. I feel like it's a neutral zone because it doesn't have to compete with a theme or "adult" decor. Plus, I think it's welcoming to my guests and it says, "The lady who lives here is such a good mom that she's willing to hang her kids art work in her foyer."
When I went shopping with a friend one day and picked up these frames for the kids work, she said, "You would be someone who would actually frame the kids art.". I didn't know how to react to that, so I pulled her hair really hard and ran away. Just kidding. I took it as a complement. She meant well. I think. Now, for the stuff that doesn't make it to the walls or work that has been recycled, it goes in these art boxes. I bought these for $3.00 at a Pottery Barn outlet (I know...I said outlet). I decorated my daughters to match her room, because I WOULD be someone who would do that.
Please note. My 5-year old little girl is attempting to make her bed every day. The mom in me wanted to fix it after I saw how it looked in the picture, but...well...I let it be.
My son's? Still looking for the right fabric. Not so easy to do.
So there you have it. I'm certainly not the expert on this, so if you have any other ideas please share them. I always think my ideas are dumb until someone comes along and says otherwise. You could be sitting on a gold-mine of an idea!

I love what you've done! I'm in the process of redoing our mudroom where all the artwork currently hangs. I'm going to frame some to look a little nicer and hang them here and there throughout the house. Love your blog by the way:)

Thank you SO MUCH for linking to me! I just love your ideas. I love the way you worked the kids' art in with your other stuff, love the boxes for storage. How did you decorate your daughter's box? Is it just fabric and trim? I'm one of those people who would do something like that too :)
