More bedding...it's a problem

Alright, fine. So I have some issues. I (again) had full intentions of making you believe that my bedding obsession was only in the master bedroom. But then Pottery Barn Outlet happened, and the whole plan went to heck.

I've been trying to "summer-ize" my son's bedroom for a year, and I kept finding stuff that was just too darn expensive. This is what I have determined about Pottery Barn--their stuff looks a LOT better in person. Looking at this quilt set, I wasn't overly in love. I mean, I like it, but I wouldn't have looked into it.
But...then I found these shams for $6.00 each (yup, you read that right), and I fell in the love with the chambray blue! How perfectly summer is that?!
I think it looks quite different from the catalog picture, so I'm glad I found it--I love you Pottery Barn! The problem is that the quilt is still $120.00--I hate you Pottery Barn!
My son has navy blue corduroy curtains, and corduroy throw pillows. That, combined with the flip side of the down comforter you see (a darker plaid), is pretty winter-y. Because I'm sooo good at sewing pillows, I bought some cheap fabric ($1.47/yard) and made some new covers for the inserts I already had. Don't you dare look closely at these. I'm sure they're crooked, and they don't have any trim yet.
Because I am dumb, I used to make all these pillow covers that would sew shut. Makes sense, right? Well, now that I have about 36 throw pillows around my house, I have decided to make covers that are removeable! Well, hello! Angela has a great tutorial on her site that I used, and I haven't looked back since! Watch out, slipcover world, I'm comin' at ya with reckless abandon!

Those look great! Try having an outlet FOR the PB outlet near you. Everything is with a monogram but I've gotten some great deals. I like that plaid bedding a lot and I agree, their things look 100% better in person! I have never bought from their catalog but I never walk out of their store empty handed. See what I mean?

I have a post written just for you over on my blog!

VERY cute. I think I like YOUR photo better than the first one. No, I'm sure of it. :o) And thanks for that link to how to actually MAKE a pillow cover. I usually do it the hard way... Sew three sides, stuff an insert in and sew up the 4th side by hand. Well, NO MORE!

HOW do you keep your kids rooms so clean? My childrens rooms are... horrible. No, I'm not exaggerating.

That PB quilt was the inspiration for my older son's bedroom. I loved it but there was no way I was spending that kind of money. I found a quilt at Kohl's on clearance for about $20 that I thought had the same feel and I went with that.

My other son has the blue corduroy curtains that I bought on ebay 2 years ago.

Thanks for the link to the tutorial. That's exactly what I need. I don't really sew - although I have a machine - go figure. But I've been thinking that surely I can figure out how to make some pillow covers.

Your pillows look great! I just started sewing slip cover pillow cases. I need some practice, but wow, who knew they could be so easy and change the whole look of a room! I like your son's room. The colors are great. :o) I actually found my son's duvet cover (twin) on clearance through a PB catalog for under $30.! I had to get it! :o)
