Well, now what?

How did I think asking a bunch of women with beautiful homes and great eyes for deseign would help me with my decision? You ladies gave me such great advice that now I want all of them! I really am overwhelmed by the help you offered. Thank you so much. If you think I'm exaggerating, most of the results are as follows:

Plant--17

Iron work--14

Shelves--2

Lamp--5

Frame--3

Table-2

Mirror--1
Many of you said to simply leave it alone for now until I get my curtains. I agree that once my curtains come in, it may fill up that space enough. However, I also agree that I need some greenery in there--I'll work on that. What I didn't tell you is that my husband HATES houseplants. Even if they're real, he thinks they look fake! What's wrong with him? I will tell you this--I think I will either go for the plant or the lamp with drum shade...or the iron work! AHHH!

Thank you, again, for all your help! What I love is that you were all so willing to offer some ideas that it gave me some visuals to work with!

That's too bad that your hubby dislikes houseplants. I think I have too many. You can always tell him that they help clean the air, which they do a little.

You can find some nice plants that look great too. I would think that a Fig Tree (I believe that is what they are called) would look nice. I also this the iron scrollwork would be great too.

How about a lamp and a piece of iron instead of a plant?

I'm not a fan of houseplants - especially ones I have to keep alive. They never make it.

So..no college kid, huh? :)

Well, personally I like the way houseplants make a room more "home-y". But I can never find ones I like. What about a flower arrangement? Or is that too fake-plant for him? Hmmmm...

I am with your husband , I hate house plants , fake or real , plants are for outside, fresh cut flowers ok they should come in, I totally agree with your husband. I think they always look like a decorating prop, for staging.
Wow I guess I really hate plants inside, and since this is all about what I like , there you go, lamp and curtains, wow I am bossy, I am gonna work on that ...

I missed this suggestion fest. I have none, as I feel as though I'm in the midst of a block as well :) The room looks great, though...and I agree that curtains will help to soften. Also, has no one mentioned that Golden Girls is on your TV? Because it is. I'm just sayin.

I must respond. I wasn't watching Golden Girls. It was Entertainment Tonight, and they were talking about Estelle Getty's passing. I did have to laugh when I saw what was on the TV. Not that there's anything wrong with Golden Girls. I'm just saying...

Late to the party...but gotta say...I'm lovin your fun/funny blog. Would like to link it...ii ya don't mind.

I really like plants in rooms...not the old ficus, long hangy thing...but a plant with a statement. unexpected. Architectural.even funky like a dracaena. But then,Living in the subtropics, I'm always bringing in plants and palm leaves...it just finishes the room for me.

Good luck with your quest. You'll find just what you didn't know you wanted ;)

I am glad someone else noticed what was on tv. I'm even happier to see that you watch ET. hee hee

Hubby hates houseplants? I'm not a huge fan either... but MY hubby bought me a hideous one in an "oriental" planter that I have to keep until I "accidentally" kill.

I love how you kept a running talley on votes. lol I do that too when I ask for help. I literally have a piece of paper on my desk counting all the votes. I'm quite sick.

I'm into that grassy, pussy willow kind of greenery arrangement these days...come see the top of my refrigerator to see what I am talking about. I think it's kind of sassy, so maybe hubby would go for sassy greenery? lol;)

I posted the pic last week, I think it is in the first "Spiffy Kitchen" post (I had 2). Was obsessing on the kitchen last week ;)

Have a great day!!! :)

I would do whatever you can to display some family photos. So you could put the shelves up and lots of different silver and black frames (my two favorite colors) or just hang the frames on the wall in a nice, eclectic pattern. Just a thought!
