You waited all week for this?

Perhaps you're wondering, "Where has she been?" Perhaps you're thinking, "She must be sooo busy with wonderful projects to share with us. " Perhaps you're incorrect. My husband was just becoming a little more mobile from his surgery and then he came down with the flu. The flu for a husband or a child doesn't just mean handing them medicine and kissing them on the forehead for us moms. It means disinfecting the remote, the handles, the countertops, the toilets, the sheets, the AIR! So far (knock on wood) the kids and I have dodged it. We. shall. see.

Anywho...while I haven't really done anything fun, I HAVE been thinking about my Thanksgiving dinner. I mentioned last week that I love wheat as a decoration for fall, but I'm not having very good luck finding what I like. I thought I'd share some wheat eye candy if you will.
I almost couldn't get past the mint walls to post this picture. It's just not my taste. However, the arrangement is.

Change that yellow ribbon to a huge brown satin one, and we're in business!

The photograph itself is just trying too hard, but I love that wheat! What a beautiful table setting, eh?
We all love warmth....(and wheat!)....

I've been looking EVERYWHERE for pears, and I'm just not having any luck. What's with my bad luck lately? I saw this picture, and my wheels were turnin'. I think I could do this, and I just love that touch of green. And finally, I love how this makes a transitional statement. It's saying "goodbye" to fall and "hello" to Christmas!
Sorry I was gone for so long. I wish I had some great excuse like my husband surprised me with a trip to Europe. Nope. Just a trip to the bathroom.

I love the warmth of your decor, but feel I have to tell you about my best friend who loved decorating with wheat too. One day she walked into her very clean living room and discovered that the field mice loved her wheat decor too. Beware my bloggy friend, I'd hate for you to have a surprise visit from uninvited critters.

I hope your hubby continues to get better. He's lucky to have your help!

Have a great week!

I love the wheat. I can find it here in the summers, but not really at this time of year.

I have never thought to decorate with wheat. i loved the 2nd wheat arrangement. i too was not to keen on the mint walls-but to each is own. Hope that the sickness leaves soon! I think that a sick husband is far worse than ALL the kids being sick!!! they are so tough all the time, but when they get sick-forget it!!
Hope he gets better so we can get back to looking and copying all of your great ideas!!!

Darn it. I have a huge bundle of wheat that I bought to photograph as a backdrop for a pumpkin. I didn't even THINK about what I could do with it afterwards. These are great ideas. I hope I can salvage some of it after last night's dusting of snow.

Sick in the house is not fun at all. Unless I drop 5-7 pounds, then I say, bring on the flu! I'm finding pears everywhere. Well, you know, in my 4 mile radius of minivan cruising. I keep thinking of you when I see them! I like the wheat a lot. I've got mine tied with a maroon satin ribbon. It looked lovely until Greg decided to use it as a small light saber.

I like the wheat, and to tell you the truth, the mint walls didn't even kill it for me. Yes, they needed a brown ribbon... but maybe they were Sage Green walls from Restoration Hardware! That's what we'll call it.

That first photo is absolutely amazing. I did like the second too, but you're right those walls are way not my style either.
I hope your hubby is better soon. I'll say a prayer that you and the children are able to ward off those evil germs.
happy thanksgiving to you and yours!!

I love bunches of wheat too but, I've never found an arrangement that was quite right...until now! I LOVE that first picture! I so need to find a cute container like that. Thanks for the ideas. I hope your hubby feels better soon. The flu is.the.worst!!! I'm double hoping it doesn't go through the whole family like it seems to do in our home.

The tables are gorgeous. Hope the husband is doing better. Nothing worse than a sick husband! I have a friend that does a Thanksgiving tree. Day after pulls off the fall puts on the Christmas. Smart in some ways. Mimi
