Reason #437

Why do I love being a school teacher in Michigan? SNOW DAYS!!!! We got DUMPED on overnight, so that phone call at 5:38 this morning (yes, it was at that time) was heaven sent. However, I was so excited that I couldn't go back to sleep. Typical. I went downstairs to eat something because it's normal to be hungry at 6:24 in the morning (yes, it was that time). When I looked outside, this is what I saw...
My backyard

My front yard
My "I'm SO Ansel Adams" picture
My neighbor was outside yesterday putting up his Christmas lights. Poor little tree. You can barely see her pretty little glow...

And of course...

Honey, do you think we should bring in the deck furniture? Fine. I'll let him use the surgery as an excuse--this year. He can't lift anything over 15 pounds (my left arm just made the cut), and I am incapable of lifting anything unless it's a new piece of furniture I want put into place.
Onto a game! Oooh a game! Can you guess what this is? I didn't say it would be a hard game. I can't post about it yet (I'll explain later), but I'm excited about it. She's cute, eh?

Love the snow pictures!!

I think the glass jar with the things inside is your version of a advent calendar. Am I right :)?

How cool are those pictures Asel? I hope you had a cozy, extra day off. Not too many snow days for these Texas teachers!

yep, an advent calendar AND I'm soooo jealous of the snowfall. We do NOT get that in central Alabamer ha ha but a girl can dream and hope!!

Wow, look at all that snow!! Oh my goodness. I don't think I could survive there in Michigan. Seriously. I just quit wearing flip flops this week. And I might even wear them again next week!

I love that glass jar! So pretty. And I can't wait to find out what the game is. :)

The trees look gorgeous!

Yep, very pretty advent jar for sure. How clever!

LOOOOOVE the snow pictures. Sigh. Here in FL, we get *gasp* hurricane days, can you believe it? They are not nearly as fun or beautiful as snow days.

I LOVE the first snow! It's so beautiful! I'm sure we'll look like that soon here. We already have some...

That deck furniture looks swollen! We lived in Michigan for a year or so. I do miss real snow falls like this. I have that same apothocary jar!! Too bad I can't spell apothocary.

Happy Snow Day! We actually got some snow here in Chicagoland too. Not as much as you, but enough to be nice and lovely.

Snow! I live in the South. No snow except on rare occasions. Your jar is an advent calendar. I'm jealous. I was looking at the lady's site who suggested that (from Martha, I think) and was so inspired. But, I wasn't inspired enough to find the matchboxes.

Enjoy the snow and your advent calendar!

We have a snow day today too! We don't have nearly as much snow as you have (more of a dusting), but just a little bit can cause school to be cancelled here in Southeastern Kentucky (snow+mountain roads=not good for buses). I don't know who gets more excited about snow, my students or me!
Enjoy your day off!

That looks like my backyard right about now! Not so fun when your little one still has school today.. :(

Loving the advent calendar! I just used a similar ribbon to line a shelf I made...Don't you love adding a little ribbon to everything? Very cute- I may have to steal the idea, really. :)

Ooo How fun, It makes me want to put on a bug fluffy coat with some warm wooly mittens, grab a sled and make a mess in the perfection of the scenery!

Actually it disturbs me to wreck a perect snowfall by walking in it. We got a bit of snow as well, only after some freezing rain though...grr. Made the drive to waork just a bit more EXCITING shall we say!

Wow, all that snow! Its so beautiful!

That snow is so beautiful! I love to look at it, but I don't know if I could handle living in it. This Mississippi girl has never experienced anything like that. We get a few little flurries every couple years and the whole town shuts down. It's really quite comical!

p.s. LOVE that glass jar! Is it an advent calendar game?

Amanda@Imperfectly Beautiful said...

I forgot to ask where you found the match boxes and the gorgeous apothecary jar? MUST.HAVE.THEM.BOTH.

What a cute jar! Your snow looks very Christmasy. We haven't had any snow yet this year. I am not complaining though. We are usually dumped on by now.

Awww, a winter wonderland! We just don't see that down here in the South & it sure is pretty. For about 2 days, that is. Enjoy!

Hi Chris,
The snow pictures are so pretty!

Looks like an advent calendar?

Natalie Jane said...

Yes. This is what a snow day should look like. Yesterday they canceled school down here in Tennessee. For a chance....of flurries.

I am not kidding.

I need to get home to Washington State where people aren't so sissy about wintertime.

Funny, and true story. The man responsible for calling "snow days" in my high school's school district drove a Hummer and lived three houses down from his office.

Thus, we never. had. a. SINGLE. snow. day. In Michigan! For four years.

So very gorgeous, glad you got some time off :)
