Luckily, I have found what I think is a super cheap and pretty easy gift to do every year. When I started working on them, I said to myself, "Self, what better time for a tutorial?!" However, consider yourself forewarned. I'm a bad tutorializer (made up word). I took what I thought was a lot of pictures, but I have no "action" shots. Let's hope my words make up for it.
Go out and find the cheapest bottle of hand sanitizer, lotion, or bottled soap that you can find. I was at Target, and I'm pretty sure I could have found something cheaper. I wasn't in the mood to go somewhere else. Hence, the $1.79 hand sanitizer. I like this idea because germs are everywhere when you're a teacher. I keep a keg of this stuff on my desk. Yes, a keg.
The hardest part of this whole elaborate project is getting the stickers off the bottle. When you purchase it, make sure there's nothing printed ONTO the bottle. Everything must be removable. Most are, but just check. The bottle on the right is the "cleaned" product. I simply peel it off. Whatever doesn't come off clean gets some Goo-off or Goo-B-Gone on it. Just wipe the oil off with some Windex or something before you move on.
Now for the easy part. Decorate it. I have tried rub-ons, stickers, small tags, and ribbons. You choose!
The one on the right (below) is the first one I did, and I used soap. I have since come to like the sanitizer option better (plus I like that it's a clear bottle), but you can do whatever you like.
So there you have it. A tutorial AND a teacher's gift idea. Maybe you're lucky, and you live in a district where parents don't care about teachers. ;-) If, however, you live in my district, you'll either present that teacher with a V-day gift or be black-listed by all the hot moms in mini-vans! Choose wisely!

Love this idea! Now tomorrow after church will head to get sanitizers.
Oh man! What a super cute idea!
Wonderful idea. I will definitely be making them. Thanks.
Kris-Perfect. Everything looks cuter in a pretty bottle. It's all about the presentation and boy are you good!!!! I am so on it too!
I love this. Now, I'm a teacher too. But I don't get gifts from my kids. Not for Christmas, Halloween, Valentines Day, etc. I teach in a small inner-city school. BUT...I might just make these to give to my colleagues! Thanks for the idea!
CUTE, CUTE, CUTE! I'm takin' your idea ( copying is a form of flattery right? )
Brilliant. As usual. I don't need teacher gifts for my kids. But my kids need them for their kids. Mimi
What a super idea! Thank you! With as many teachers as my kids have between the 4 of them I am always on the hunt for inexpensive gifts.
If THIS JUST ISN'T THE CUTEST IDEA EVER!
MY SISTER'S A TEACHER.
I'LL PASS IT ON. :)
That is a great idea, and it can be adapted to other holidays!
Cute idea! And yes, hand sanitizer is a must in the classroom!!!
That is a great idea and so creative! Who doesn't love a gift from time to time????
I love this idea! I will be posting our teacher gift on Thursday!
What a cute idea! Thanks for sharing!
I don't have any teachers to buy for, but I'm thinking I've got to make these for somebody - so cute!
VERY cute idea!! Like some of the others that left a comment, my kids are in HS and no longer give teacher gifts. But this idea is just too cute, I may have to make one or two for home. Awww, maybe my desk at work!!
I love this! I think I'll make them for the teachers @ Sunday school also. I love practical gifts.
Very cute!! I do live in one of THOSE districts, but I really don't care what the other moms say OR do! I don't let it affect me. I tend to give gifts for no occasion at all, s they know that I really mean it, and just to be a rebel.
{Of course I am normal about Christmas though}
Thanks for the idea! I'll have to try it!.........hmmm maybe St. Patrick's Day...... :)
Hi Chris, :)
Thanks for the sweet comments on our home. I really appreciate it very much. You're too kind.
I thought I was a follower of your blog already. Oops! Sorry I missed it somehow.
I've had your button displayed on mine for a loooong time. I really enjoy your blog.
Have a wonderful and blessed Sunday.
~Melissa :)
This is a great idea!! I am always looking for new ideas for teachers, I know you/they get tired of the old standard apple themed gifts and you can only eat so much candy!
Thanks for sharing... =)
That is GEN I OUS!! What a great idea of a gift for very little cost. I will have my daughter make this for her mom and teacher this year!!
Love and Prayers,
Tim
What a great idea! I might make one for myself as well.
Thanks!
What a great idea! I might make one for myself as well.
Thanks!

Great Idea! I want to invite you to my special Valentine's blog challenge! Hope you can join us!
What a great idea...Love those. You are so creative.
LOL! I too am working on my VDay teachers gifts. Oh...the love!
Super idea! I love that it is economical & practical!
I love it. I was so excited to do it and then I realized duh, my kids are homeschooled. :)
You are so funny! This is a great idea and I will definitely be making this. Thanks for sharing!
What a great idea! I'm giving my son's teachers one of my Valentines pins but I'm tucking your idea away for later. Love it!
Kimba
Great idea!
Very chic. Just mentioned this on my sidebar. And that is my v-day gift to you teach. :)
LOVE the idea! I keep these in my bathroom too. This is the first time I have seen your blog and I just love it. It must be that "teacher" thing that we have in common. I retired a year and a half ago. Keep up the good work! I am going to make some of these this afternoon.
One of the cutest, simplest ideas I've seen in a while. Great job!
That is a really cute, really creative idea! Thanks for sharing :) I might have to do this for Christmas next year if I can find enough cute smelling lotions!
That is super cute! I'm totally going to steal it. It would be super cute to give a sanitizer & lotion set.
This is so cute! What a great idea! I'm really shocked with how adorable the results are :-)
what a cute idea. this would be so great for little 'secret pal' gifts too. people are always in the need of little happies, and what a great way to personalize them.
~nicole
Now thats just pure de' cute!!!
Brilliant! Simply brilliant, my friend!
Those are so cute!!! I love ready other teacher's blogs. I found your blog about a week ago and love reading!
Can I move to your district where the teachers are actually cared about? Cute ideas. I think my students use my hand sanitizer more than I do.
This is a great idea and I am certainly going to steal it! I do not mind giving gifts to Libby's teachers, but she has many. There is the music teacher, the computer teacher, the Spanish teacher, the art teacher, and a few more. It gets a bit crazy. Right after the Valentine party, I begin to think about the class end of the year gift...what is the best you have ever received? I teach, but there are few gifts for college instructors. Mostly we get groans and whining, but that is okay because that means I am making them engage, making them think! ~Kelly

That is seriously precious.
Very cute and our teachers would love this, they ask for hand sanitizer...BUT cute hand sanitizer come on.... LOVE it...
Very very cute! What did you use on the one with brown? Is that something you just glued on??
Great idea! Love it. Now mind you I don't need the idea since my son is 13 but boy do I wish you would of been around when he was in grade school! I'm sure you have saved a lot of moms time and $$ and made a lot of teachers HAPPY!
P.S. My niece is a teacher. I think this would also be a great idea to give the kid's for gifts for the parents.
so cute. I cant wait to make them. I was wondering about the brown ones too.
That is a fabulous idea. Our school goes for a whole week of teacher/staff appreciation before Valentine's Day...one day is bring in healthy snack day, one day is for supplies, one for homemade cards, give a hug day, and then the pta does a lunch the other. Can't wait to try this! Thanks
These are adorable! Awesome idea and I think you did a great job w/ the tutorial. :o)
I think this is even a good idea for those of us w/ desk jobs...I'd love to have this sitting on my desk. It's pretty and functional.
Thanks for the inspiration!
Totally adorable!
This is too great. I'm nowhere close to having teachers in my life so I'm thinking I need a sanitizer bottle for my home. Way to be so personalizing. And I love that you make up your one words.
You are so creative! I am a teacher, too, and I would love this gift!!
Very cute!!!
I freakin' LOVE this idea!! Thank you so much for posting! I will be making these for my co-workers! Maybe it will make them nicer :)
Great job! Always like teacher's gift suggestions that come from teachers!
OH MY ...just a perfect and creative idea! I love it!
-sandy toe
Thanks for your comment on the "show". That was basically my point. I don't think they are terrible people. I just don't want to watch the chaos! You're right, LIFE is stressful enough!!!
I got my feathers kinda ruffled with that one commenter. Could you tell?
So cute! Love it! AND I'm gonna steal it;)
Great idea, I'm going to do this! With four kiddos, finding inexpensive teacher gifts is quite a challenge. Thanks
Im going to make them for my girls teachers and for my guest bathroom. Thanks for sharing!! I love your blog.
Really cute idea! I like to get them something that they'll use and this sure fits the bill. Thanks!
OH! What a great idea...that is what I will get my little boys preschool teacher and I bet she will LOVE it! Thanks!!!
Sooo cute!!! My son's teacher is a total germ-a-phobe. We adore her and embrace her phobia! I love & appreciate that she tries to keep germs at bay in her room. I know what she will be getting for V-day now!!!
This is fabulous! I have no fewer than 4 bottles of sanitizer in my classroom, but one as pretty as this would find a home on my desk!
Oh that is so sweet and thoughtful! I love it. And coming from a teacher, you know they'll link it! Thanks for the idea, I'll be linking.
You know I had to put this on my blog! Sick, it's sickening how creative you are... Imagine what you could do if you actually had time and not a job! :0
Love this idea. Thanks to you,"the tutorializer" for the tutorial :) I am so going to steal this and give one to my kids teacher. Oh wait that would be me since I homeschool, but I will gladly give them to Sunday school teachers.
Blessings,
Linda
Chris I'm working on mine right now thanks for the great idea. I'm giving them to all the nurses at the nursing home who take care of my aunt with some candy in a basket I'll take a picture when it all gets done. Thanks for the great idea it came at the best time:)
julie
Great idea, Chris. Those are great teachers' gifts!
That is a great idea...and you are a funny girl! "Hot moms in minivans" is going to be my new slogan. ;-)
Ha,ha! You make me laugh. I'm one of those drive my kids to school in my jammies & slippers & hope the car doesn't break down kind of mom.
Anyway...WOW! Those are so cute! I haven't heard of V-day gifts for teachers yet at our school but, maybe I'm out of the loop. Do you think it would work on soap dispensers too? Great idea!!!
Love this! Would be great for any occasion! Thanks for the idea.
Cute and easy with a big wow factor! That's my kind of craft! Thanks for the idea.

What a brilliant idea! Thanks!
Such an adorable idea! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
That's a really great idea. I'm adding sanitizer to my shopping list!!
Love those! I'm going to try that for some of my friends.
Once again...another great idea! Thank you!!
Wow! You did it again! Pretty AND practical AND filling a need! You're GREAT!
Thanks again!
Oh, yeah, they are all about the different holidays here. Not only for teachers, but now my kids come home every holiday with goody bags full of stuff from the other kids! That's just a little much for me! This is a great idea, cause I'm all about keeping things germ-free! :) Definitely useful in a school!!
You are so stinkin clever! This is one of those projects that you want to tell all of your friends about. Thank you for the tutorial, there are never enough of them in blof land. Smiles, Paula
By the way where do you buy your stickers and rub ons? I love the chocolate bottle especially! Paula
I am new to blogging and love your ideas! My kids aren't school aged yet, but I think I'll be making these for the babysitter and neighbors! Thanks!
How neat!! I love Germ- X!!
This is precious! I don't have any teachers to buy gifts for and am shocked that Valentine's Day is now a teacher gift holiday. I'll keep this project in mind (and not forget to give teachers Valentine's Day presents when that time comes). Thanks for the heads up! Haha!
SUPER DUPER CUTE! they've actually requested NO teacher gifts at my son's school. you can bring in a goody for the whole staff or a book to add to the library, but no specific holiday gifts to stop the craziness. (of course, i cheat and send "just because gifts cuz i love teachers:)
This is a great idea! Am going to give it a try myself...
I have never heard of buying Vday gifts for a teacher, but then my oldest is in Kindergarden. :)
Regardless, I LOVE this idea and if I don't use it for V-day I will use it someday!
Thanks for sharing!!!
Love your BLOG.
Lea

The word AWESOME comes to mind!
These are SOOOOOO stinkin cute!
This is such a pratical, useful, yet beautiful gift. I would love to have one of these sitting on my desk! :)
Great Idea!
That is such a great idea!!
Fantastic idea. Looks cute, but is very useful. My mom (a 3rd grade teacher) uses tons of this stuff.
What an adorable idea! That's fun to do to match your kitchen, or your hostess' kitchen for a hostess gift!
What an AWESOME idea! I have hadn sanitizer everywhere in the house! LOL
So cute, Chris!
And just think...you can buy the Green Sanitizer and make St. Patrick's Day ones to SURPASS those Jones' ;)
Make sure to swing by my blogs this week...I am have 18 giveaways on Bella Casa and 1 on bella casa news!

Will certainly make these this year for teachers!
Have a wonderful week.
Blessings,

What a cute idea!!!!
Jen
I work in an inner city school also. I usually get a very few things for Christmas. However, I have three instructional assistants. (Sped.) I may have to give them this with a little something else. Great idea.
that is fantastic!
DARLING IDEA! LOVED IT!
117 comments about SOAP?!!
You have officially made it. My blog stinks. Off to eat some worms.
Absolutely adorable! We homeschool so we don't have teachers to give to but I'm so making these for my son's Sunday School teachers! Thanks for sharing the tutorial.
GREAT idea! Thanks for sharing!
Let me just say I LOVE YOUR BLOG!!!!! That is very creative !!!!
Fabulous easy in-expensive gift idea. LOVE IT!!
Oh my gosh - I did these and I LOVE them! You are a genius. I like doing Valentine's gifts but hate to spend very much, so this was perfect. On the tag, I printed this scripture - "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew
a steadfast spirit within me.
Psalm 51:10" I thought the two went well together. Thanks again for a great idea. Actually thanks for ALL your great ideas - I love your blog!
You have such great ideas...I love your blog!!
VERY NICE! HUGS FROM MAINE http://sophie4me.blogspot.com/
I am LOVING THESE! What a great way to reuse bottles! I am definitely going to try it someday!
That is so creative and so very practical. I am going to do this.
These are a great idea! So easy to do, cheap to make, super cute, and something the teacher needs and can use. Unlike yet another box of cheap chocolates!
The hand sanitizer is brilliant. Teacher get so much junk gifts. This is saying I appreciate you and its practical and not very expensive.
LOVE this idea!!
What a fantastic idea!!! ♥
I am a teacher and have a bottle of sanitizer on my desk that I use very frequently but these are so much cuter!!
I just fell in love :) I followed you from Tip Junkie and I am loving your blog!! I too am a teacher, but am staying home right now. I CHERISH my son's teachers. I already got them something, but I am doing this too!! AMAZING IDEA!! thanks for sharing!
LOVE this idea!!!
I love this idea! I'll be making one for each of my kid's teachers... or rather, he will be making them.
What a fabulous idea. You could really do that for ANY holiday.. and what a nice addition to your bathroom during the holidays. Thanks!

This is a WONDERFUL idea! (must be from a wonderful teacher!) Thanks for sharing!
Okay, so I did this today! I am NOT crafty or creative but this was fun and easy. Oh and cheap...
4 bottles of sanitizer at the dollar store - $4.
Stickers at Hobby Lobby - $4.
If I wouldn't have spent money on other things I absolutely HAD to have this gift would have cost less than $10 - that is 2 gifts for each teacher. WOW!!!
Thank you!
Such a cute and creative gift!
Too cute, fun and creative. I don't think I can make one of these without making one for myself!
Hey don't beat yourself over the price issue, I just bought two bottles at Wal-Mart in Canada for 4.79!!! I found pink sanitizer too, which will be great for Valentines, thanks for the great idea!!
Love the idea and I copied it for my sons pre school teacher. Not as cute as yours, but a super and easy idea :)
Thanks.
My 6 year old & I made these for her 3 teachers & she gave it to them yesterday. I was so happy to hear them tell me what a great present & great creative idea.
Thanks for posting this & allowing me to touch into a creative side.
New to your blog, but had to post that this is the cutest idea ever. I sat with my girls last night while they created their own decorated hand-sanitizer bottles for their teachers. They loved the activity. With the bottles in hand, they walked proudly into school this morning. Thanks so much for the cheap and cute idea!
This is one of the best teacher gifts ever - any teacher will love it, and it's very cute and easy to make. Thanks for the great idea!
Thanks so much for this idea. I would have been stumped on what to give without it. I was able to get all the supplies at the Dollar Tree. Thank you!
We made these and I posted pics on my blog and gave you a shout out for the super cute idea! Thanks for giving us an awesome gift idea that stood out from the rest! They were impressed!!! :)
Okay, after 140+ comments, i don't know if you will see this but I wanted to add my thanks! I gave this for V-day and I think it is an AWESOME idea- way to think outside the box!! very creative!
What a cute idea. Thanks for sharing with us.
I tried your idea and it is so much fun!
Thanks for the clever idea.
Christine

Ahh I LOVE this idea!
Love these! What a great idea!
Love it! I'm sure the teacher's love getting a useful gift, too, instead of another mug.
omgosh, such a simple, pretty idea! I love it!
That is such a cute idea. I will have to remember it. My son will start to school next year.
You mean the teacher don't want another coffe mug or ceramic apple?
This is a genius idea!
I think these are adorable. As a former childcare provider, I would have loved to receive one as a gift:0)
What a GREAT idea! I'm so doing this!
What a cleaver idea!!!
Great idea!! Inexpensive, pretty and usable! So what if the teacher gets 5 of them?? I bet they wouldn't look the same...and she will use them up in no time!!
I'm a teacher too and I would have much preferred something practical and cute like this rather than a silk rose or stale chocolate hearts! Congrats on your SITS day! :)
Great idea! And I think you did an excellent tutorial!
Happy SITS Day!
Mary
Wow, I know others have said it, but what a great teacher's gift. So much better than yet another mug or pencil holder :)
Great idea. I'm tiring of the teacher gift occasions.
What a great gift for teachers. Thanks for sharing.
This is great!!! I'm a teacher (or was before the babies) in one of those areas where gifts were given for every occasion (can you say, Columbus Day Gift?!?) But a lady only needs so many pads of note paper! This is adorable, from the heart, AND useful! Great, Great Idea!!
Love it! I'm a teacher, too. Taught K-2nd before having the babies and now I teach college on the side. In my last district, they were always doing stuff for teachers. We had to fill out these forms with all sorts of information about what we liked--perfumes, other scents, favorite colors, favorite candles, favorite restaurants, kitchen colors, one or two big items we'd love to get for our classroom, etc. It was a very wealthy district and my parents were amazing. They usually took up a collection and bought things off the list they gathered at the beginning of the year, but I almost always ended up with a large pile of extra "stuff." Your gift idea is wonderful because, not only is it handmade, but SOOOO useful. Thanks! Oh, and happy SITS day!
I love them!!
Cute and fairly inexpensive gift option! I like it.
I've been shunned by many hot moms and teachers.......hanging head in shame.
That's a very clever & cheap idea. Of mine is in junior high now & kids don't bring the teachers presents (probably because they have too many teachers to have to give to).
Cute.
Although I'm now feeling inadequate because I did nothing for the teachers on valentines day. I made them scarves at Christmas, though. ;)
That is such a great idea. I'm all over it!
So adorable!!! I'm filing this idea away.
Wow! They look great! A nice gift, even for family.
OH MY GOSH! Those are so cute and such a great idea. At my kids' school, they collect for a "class gift" but I like to still give the teacher a little something that shows we were thinking of her. THESE ARE PERFECT and I'm DEFINITELY stealing this idea. You're so creative!
That isn't just great for teachers it's also great for doctors offices & people with OCD..hehe. You should make mini ones to go in purses!
love it. i'm also a crafter and love new ideas.
We went through this for Valentine's as well. I love your idea and will definitely be using it next year. Thanks!
These are so clever!! And pretty!
You are a modern day genius. I am linking to this page from my blog!
Thanks!
Very cute idea. So simple and yet it looks so adorable!
Why oh why couldn't I have known you two months ago? This is a most excellent idea. Plus also I love your blog layout. So feminine and chic!
That's a flipping SWEET idea!
This is such a cute gift idea! Way to go.
You are full of "awesomenicity"!!!
LOVE IT! Great idea!
Now, hopefully I can remember this in four years when my daughter goes to school... ;)
Great idea! I like the hand sanitizer bottles too. The little bubbles just add to the designs.
Great idea, it would be fun to do at my own house with liquid soaps for the different holidays and seasons. Thanks!
Cute stuff! Stopping by from SITS.
I did these! I found ya and did them for gifts and they LOVED THEM!!!
These are just genius. They turned out so well.
Now why didn't I think of that! Great idea thanks! Happy sits day!
