Not Much Monday

It was finally hot (like really hot) this weekend, so we spent most of our time here.

Needless to say, the list of things I did not get done is much longer than the list of things I did.

However, remember how I did this, but I was never really in love with it?

Well, I tackled it head on this weekend and came up with…well…something different. I bought a piece of white poster board for .47 cents.

Please don’t ask how I did this.  I stood in the kitchen and watched Twilight with my kids for the 47th time while I did it.  Who knows.

I used a couple of paint cans to outline the textured circles. Then, I took a cheap-o sponge brush and mixed all my bluish paints together with some white and “burnt sienna”.  How’s that for official?

It brings just a hint of color in there (which I wanted), and I’m pretty in love with it.  As my husband said, “It’s a lot more “us”.  Because, apparently, me painting circles on a poster board is “us”.

Very nice, Chris, even if you don't remember how you did it! : )
It adds some color, where before the music blended in with the mat and this {dare I say it} "pops".

I also noticed your little grommet curtains - did you make them?

i love it! reminds me of soap bubbles and how appropriate for a bathroom, right?

You could totally sell that in an art gallery for millions! lol. Seriously, very nice! It has a very calming effect to it. Goes well with the gold frame.

Wasn't it great that we finally got a really HOT weekend in Michigan??

Wow! I love it! I sooo want to copy that - with your permission, of course! ;o) Although, I'm afraid (or quite sure!), it won't turn out near as fantastic as yours.

Thanks for such great inspiration. I love your blog!

Hey girl..."us" could be a lot worse things than painting circles on a poster board...

Looks quite sea/water inspired. Dandy!

You guys are my kind of "us." :)

Really, that looks wonderful. Very smart of you to paint an area larger than your mat. It looks so purposeful the way you have it framed.

Wow, it looks great and very "high end". LOL on the husband's comment...they have such a way with words! You make everything look so easy!

Looks nice! As I'm looking at your pic with the edges of your blog - looks like there was a subconscious inspiration there?!? maybe? No? sliiiiightly? Well, it's very pretty and looks a bit like bubbles which are perfect for the bath!

Love it! I think sometimes the best things come out of us not trying too hard, and just going with the flow when we make them. ;)

I wish we had "a" hot day. The entire summer here in Texas has been pretty misearble hitting 103- 107 pretty much EVERY day! =( I'm not sure why this year is hotter than normal. Anyway, I have to ask, in that first pic. of the beach what is that on the closest group of people to the camera? Is someone holding something up or is that a pregnant woman's belly?????? I tried to enlarge to see, but can't tell, and it is driving me nuts! ;)

Great job, it's much more happy and light...not so serious.

Chris said...

Jennifer in Texas...you made me laugh. I just went and checked out the photo. It's actually the back of a girl, and she has a bag on her. It's neutral colored, so I can totally see how it looks like a pregnant lady! Hilarious! I hope that helps!
