Are you anything like me and have a bunch of this around the house?
And by this, I don’t mean a counter full of groceries waiting to be put away. I can’t really decorate, blog, and work around the house, can I??? Something must suffer.
Well, I do have a lot of this. Lamps that I find on clearance, don’t really have a place for, but just can’t leave on the shelf.
Lucky for me, I have a classroom (a really big classroom) that was just begging for some feminine lamp love. How about these?
Are you noticing a pattern to these at all? I’ll tell you. Bright colors. I’m a neutral girl, remember? Being in my classroom allows for me to decorate “out of the box” so to speak. Plus, the color makes me smile when I’m grading my 3,426th paper.
Just in case you’re wondering what one of my all-time favorite decorating tips is (and I’m sure you’ve been wondering that for a long time), it’s changing out a lamp. Think I’m joking?
None of these lamps came out of the store looking like this.
A little extra cording here, a little splash of paint there…
And, of course, the ol’ fabric on the lampshade trick is my favorite.
That’s just a sampling! Seriously…I have more. Well, I hope you enjoyed the little tour! I’ll come back later to show you what the lamps look like in their new home.

They look great! I have a lamp that I'm revamping right now, too. Thanks for the inspiration...again! :)
I love the green houndstooth fabric on one of the lamps. So chic!
What kind of paint did you use on the turquiose lamp base? Did you use primer? I have been looking for a lamp to makeover but wasn't sure what paint to use on a shiny surface. You should do a lamp makeover tutorial!
Totally inspirational! We need a "how to" though! I'm afraid mine would be dripping with glue gunk all crooked!

I have one in the Reading Room I need to do something with. Is it easy to wrap the fabric around it and make it look smooth?
You don't really have to answer me, I know you're up to your eyeballs in papers that need grading. It just felt It just felt good to ask that question out loud. It forced me to start thinking about the answer and inspired me to get that bad boy done once and for all!
Thank you!
