Birthday in Review

Do you have those special days where you think, “Gosh, my husband SO got it right this time!”  Yeah, well…I don’t.  No offense to my husband.  He just seems to miss the mark when it comes to “getting it right”.  However, NOT this time.  He knocked it out of the park.

He surprised me with reservations at my favorite restaurant.  They could serve cardboard dipped in salsa here.  It’s that beautiful in there.  I gave him NO suggestions for a present.  I simply said, “It’s up to you.” No pressure, right?  Again…he did well in this department.  I’m not a gadget girl, but I was very impressed. :)

We came home to celebrate with the family.  Yes.  The Nemesis just sat there and stared at me.  Notice the matches on the cake?  Oops.  No candles.

I’d say my husband did very well this time.  Plus, I think he’s really cute, so I guess it was worth the wait. :)

Thank you so much for all your birthday wishes!  I was giddy reading all the comments from people who can relate to my age density!

yay for finally getting it right!! My husband still, after years of laughter, recalls giving me a fake fur headband as a gift one time (and I have never, ever worn headbands!) haha It hung on his closet doorknob as a reminder of what NOT to do the next year ;)

P.S. My daughter & I are blinging up a Purell bottle for her classroom, so I'll make sure to let you know when I have pics. :)

Matches! A Ha!It makes perfect sense...why waste the match AND the candle, when just one will do.

Sounds like ou had a great birthday - congrats! My hubby got me an iPod Nano for Christmas last year and I love it! I didn't know for several months that it has games on it, but from the time I figured that out, it was a lifesaver for when I had to take my Dad for doctor's appointments and such. Enjoy it!

So glad to hear that hubby knocked it out of the park this time! I think they all miss the mark now and again but can kind of make up for it with stuff like this!

Glad you had a wonderful birthday. I am sad to admit that I know my real age and will be turning 38 on Friday. I wish my Mom would tell me I was wrong. Heheheh. But, on the other hand, it's better than the alternative (no more birthdays).

I will say, my hubby got it VERY right one year for Christmas. Once, when we were dating, I told him I had always wanted a real pearl necklace, ever since I was a little girl. That year we weren't doing gifts because we had bought a new TV and DVD player with surround sound just a few weeks earlier. That was our gift. What I didn't know is he had been socking away money all that time, in small amounts, so I wouldn't notice. Christmas morning came and I got a little box. It looked like a DVD. I thought he had gotten me a chick flick for our new DVD player, until I opened the box and saw the name of a very nice jeweler on it. I was pregnant with our first child at the time, one we had spent years trying to have and had to go to doctors to finally have help in conceiving. I opened it to find a GORGEOUS string of pearls, expensive pearls. I looked up, tears in my eyes (his Mom was watching this and had tears in her eyes), and he said, "you have made all my dreams come true, I wanted to make one of yours come true as well." Yeah, he got it very right that year.

How fun!! I'm glad you had such a great birthday, and I love that your pup is staring right at that cake, ready to devour, as you get ready to blow out the "candles" (I laughed that you used matches, that is so creative!!)

Fabulous birthday! I get a little worried sometimes when I tell the hub to go it alone and use his best instinct.

By the way, I was inspired by you Halloween hand sanitizers and made a stash of my own for the school secretaries and my co teachers.

Sounds like you had a great birthday! My husband is a wonderful man, wonderful father, wonderful husband but is missing the gene of planning surprises or being overly romantic but he is so good to me. He lets me do all the things that I love and he makes up for it by being himself. Glad that you had a good time.

Sounds like a great birthday.

Solution to your age density problem: Turn 29 each year like I do. I find that by the 5th or 6th year of an age, I get really good at remembering it. Just a thought...

Yeah for your husband, and happy belated! I celebrated 41 this weekend, although celebrated probably isn't the word! My husband was GONE most of the day, so I had the typical chaos with the kiddos! We did go out for a late lunch where we had a yummy dessert for my cake :) Oh, and my "gadget" is on the way!! (not a gadget gal either, but this one looks pretty cool!)
