It Has Its Days…

Sure.  Michigan spends at least 5 months of the year under several feet of snow, ice, slush, and rain, but it does have its moments.  Today being one of them.

IMG_7829

It’s peak season for our area in Michigan, and our trees were just begging to be photographed.  We went to one of our favorite places and spent the day.  How ‘bout them apples, eh?

IMG_7784

Do you ride in a tractor pulled covered wagon to pick yours?

IMG_7806

And do you have two adorable little rugrats to keep you warm on those wagons?

IMG_7808

How ‘bout this hottie hottie booma-lottie?  Wanna little tidbit of info about JaG?  I’m a scarf person.  I’m pretty much obsessed with them.  Something about them keeps me toasty warm.

The highlight of my day came at the expense of my father-in-law.  He thought he could go on this bounce house obstacle course.

Klackles 09 069

Instead, he ended up taking out this little boy.  Nearly wet my pants on that one.  As a matter of fact, my hubby and I are cracking up as I type this.

And lastly…I got lost in a corn maze.  I know what you’re thinking, but let me tell you *I. got. lost!*  We’re talking “how are we going to survive the winter in here” lost.  Don’t believe me?

Klackles 09 158

You see that tall cornstalk?  That’s me underneath it.  Thank goodness my in-laws have some sense of direction—that and the invention of cell phones saved us from a doomed life of surviving on apples and corn.

I enjoyed your post so much and I miss Michigan this time of year!! I miss the vivid colors and the Cider Mills, Apple Orchards, and Pumpkin patches. I live in NC now and just yesterday posted the things here in the South that I never saw growing up in Michigan! I love my new home here in the South but do miss Michigan in the Fall!

I too live in Michigan. However, it's no where near as pretty around these parts. We have had wind and rain the last few days. Our color hasn't yet reached peak. It may not now, due to the wind and rain. Those apples made my mouth water!!

Oh Chris, I loved coming here a year ago and I love coming back to this day! Always something to smile about and tonight? I giggled out loud! The image of your father in law coming down with that kid was too much! Love the snap of you and your man :) Have a beautiful week!! PS ~ I am so envious of your location!!!

There is nothing funnier that seeing your father-in-law wiping out a little kid. Made my day. I am going to crack up about this one for days. Thanks for the pics.

Gorgeous photos. We are under snow now in Colorado and really missed out on our normal amazing autumn colors we usually have. Winter started too soon this year.
My dad has always called us kids rugrats. I've never heard anyone else use that phrase. How fun.
Love the scarves. I wear many in all our coldness here.
And the corn maze is awesome. Reminded me of "Field of Dreams" when Kevin Costner was yelling at one of the baseball players and he said, "You are guest in MY corn!" Haha.
The FIL taking out the little boy is classic :o)

Fun day and I love your scarf. Our pumpkin patch doesn't have a covered wagon and I'm jealous!

We once got lost in a maze in Denmark... (we- the whole family). Not sure how long we wandered before another group came through and passed us...and we followed them out.

Ew. Michigan. Although, I do enjoy Kalamazoo and am looking in to EMU because Ohio students get to pay the in-state prices.

Oh, go Bucks! (Which tremendously suck right now.)

Anyways, those pictures really are beautiful! The trees are perfect around this time of year, the best colors appear just before all of the leaves fall to the ground!

Oh my gosh I am loving that your f-in-law took out some kid on that slide! I love those slides by the way so I totally don't blame him for wanting to join the fun, but those pictures are priceless! Oh yes, and the fall colors are nice too :). Also, I so WANT to be a scarf girl, but I always feel like I'm being strangled by a boa constrictor when I wear one. Plus they give me a double chin which I'm not too fond of. You look fab in yours.

Glad you made it out of the field and the children of the corn didn't get you. We would have missed you :).

HOLY MY GOODNESS those pics are incredible!!! It makes me happy to see some good stuff since I just checked all my favorite photography blogs and nothin' new. So, thanks! :)

I wonder how they get their apple so big and bird-free?? Our apples are quite small and the birds had a hey-day. BUT, since we just moved to this house and I've ALWAYS wanted an apple tree and got one, I'm happy.

Yay for fall! Looks like a wonderful day...except for your father-in-law's little tumble. Too bad you didn't have a video camera.

We're going to a corn maze for the first time next month and now you've got me scared. I was already paranoid about it. Maybe I can back out. No, I planned this stupid field trip so I have to go. Maybe I can sit outside the maze and just watch. Oh. I shouldn't have read that last part...

The pics of youe FIL on that bouncy slide are funny and crazy at the same time. My Granddaddy would never attempt that, but my Papa would. :)

I didn't realize you were a fellow Michigander! We were also out enjoying the fall weather this weekend, a really beautiful day after the buckets of rain we've been getting with. Love that your FIL went down the blow up slide!

I am beyond jealous of the colorful trees. Being in Arizona, the only color changes we see is the green grass turn brown which matches the brown dirt and brown gravel. Oh how I wish I could see what you see.

LoriLyn said...

I can't tell you how jealous I am of your fall color!! Try to remember it when you're living in the slush and ice. And, I'm with you on the scarves. I bought 2 new ones today :)

This sure makes me miss Michigan. Yes, the winters are hard, but the autumns? Oh, my goodness. I get all drooly just thinking about fresh apple cider. There's just something REAL about Michigan in the fall. Thanks for the taste!

Melanie said...

I can't believe those apples! They are beautiful! I live in Florida and we don't have trees that color and apples on the trees BUT we don't have the cold weather either! I am moving to northern Kentucky next week and I am so afraid of the weather up there:(

G.B. said...

I am scarf obsessed too...my husband doesn't understand why I need one to match different outfits....I have bought 3 in the last 3 weeks..it's bad. And the pics of your father in law...seriously was dying laughing...what are the chances of you catching that on film...they are priceless!!!! Love your blog!
