Staring at Stairs

staircase

My friend Beth is having a big ol’ party.  We’re talking “call the cops and get these hoodlums outta here” party.  Okay, fine.  I regret to inform you that I’m just not cool enough to be invited to one of those parties.  I’m also going out on a limb to say Beth isn’t cool enough to throw one of them.  However, we DO both love staircases!  So as soon as she spread the word about her staircase party,  I was alllllll over it.

Generally speaking, you’re bound to step on a half-eaten Barbie doll or a sharp piece of a Bionicle.  Somehow I got lucky on this day, and I was spared. IMG_7719

The stairwell is the first piece of house that greets my guest, so I knew it had to be something I liked.  Of course, what my husband isn’t aware of is that this is a nice, beautiful, blank pallet for some wainscoting.  Soon, dear.  Soon…

And lastly, the reality. Look closely, and you’ll find a sleeping bag (oops. wait…looks like two are there), a lightsaber (never know when one might come in handy), and possibly a gorilla hand?  Like you don’t have a gorilla hand on your landing.

Wanna see my dream staircase?  Seriously.  I have dreams about it.

Notice:  No gorilla hand on the landing.

Your staircase is gorgeous and will look fantastic with some wainscot. And, I don't even HAVE a landing, so no...not lucky enough to have a gorilla hand. We usually just collect chunks of mortar that fall out of the 100 yr old brick wall and ginormous dust bunnies. They're almost as fun as a gorilla hand. Thank you friend for not letting me hang out there with a sad, sad Mc Linky. Everyone else, if you have a staircase and a camera, that is really all the requirements needed to join this shindig. Come on. All the cool people are going to be there. And I think some cute bannisters just might ask you to slow dance. :)

Your stairs are wonderful! When we moved to our house a few years ago, it had horrible carpet. The kind you put your shoes on before you go on it.. anyhow, we had limited time and had to do some quick renovating before moving in, and we choose a carpet and went with it.. never did I think to do wood stairs with a runner, and now I am so jealous of all these beautiful stairs! I want to wainscoting on mine as well. :-)

Oh My Goodness - it is beautiful. Of course it is...it's YOUR house. :) Light sabers, etc. gorgeous!!!

Do you decorate it at Christmas - do you have any good ideas on how to hang a garland? Thanks so much.

Hi Chris.
Your staircase really is beautiful. Oh, and just remember that the gorilla hands and barbie dolls will be gone and moved out all too soon. (That's what I tell myself anyway. Usually when I step on a lego. Ouch!)

No gorilla hands here, but we've got more Bionicle pieces than you could possibly count. Even if you had a week to count.

I love your staircase! Betcha lots of people would dream about yours!

BTW--my 13 yr old self would have deemed your staircase totally prom worthy! In fact, my 35 yr old self wouldn't mind traipsing down those babies!

You have a great staircase and it will look even better with wainscotting or perhaps raised panels?

Love your staircase! I wish I had one like yours... mine is so tiny it's almost non-existent. Definitely inspirational.

Oh to have a set of stairs... the decorating possibilities are endless. I always drool over the magazines that have the garlands/fresh greenery draping over it. I have to pretend or find a place to have my make believe staircase. i will live through yours.
