It’s the Little Things…

Last minute everything is happening around JaG’s house, but I thought I’d share how I take care of all those little gifts that are given at the holidays.  When it comes to little boxes, I think general wrapping paper can appear overwhelming on such a little trinket box.

Since I tend to lean toward a more simplified look in the first place, I pick up these little white boxes in various shapes at Michaels throughout the year.  The best part about wrapping this way means you can play up the boxes with all that gorgeous ribbon out there.  I purchased these at Michaels.  They were 1/2 off, and I went into a frenzy when I was picking them out.

Combine the boxes with the plethora of ribbon combinations, and you’ve got some pretty swank little packages to give away. Or keep for yourself so you can stare at them.

One of my favorite things about this idea is that, with essentially a few spools of ribbon, you can come up with so many variations of gift wrap!

I just kept throwing different combinations of ribbon on there until I came up with something I liked.  There’s no science behind it.  However, I sure wouldn’t mind knowing how to tie a really good bow.  There’s definitely a science behind THAT.

One project down, and 6,241 chores to finish.  Happy Wrapping!

How did I miss that ribbon??? I love that! Oh well, maybe it will be on clearance next week. I have vowed to watch a bow tutorial come January and practice all year so I've got it down to a science next Christmas!

I saw all that ribbon. I need to inventory all my Holiday stuff though. It's scattered over several places in my house. I love the blue/brown combo.

I learned how to make bows when I worked at a florist - and the secret is wired ribbon - although I got adept enough at it that I can make them with plain ribbon as well! Maybe someday I will do a how-to video!

OMG you seriously cannot make a real bow? I have so much to teach you...they are the easiest things in the world. I promise. Maybe I should do a tutorial for you. Would that help that hot mess of ribbon you have going on there? (actually, I'll give you some credit considering the skill level.) ;)

Those are gorgeous! We don't have a Michael's around here and our Hobby Lobby ribbon has been long gone. I need to keep my eyes open for ribbon like that for next year!

Love this! Heading to Michael's now to see if they have some of the ribbon at great, after-Christmas pricing.

Thanks for sharing this. Honestly, I just hate wrapping gifts and anything that makes it simpler but still pretty is appreciated!

Even the Big Guy is impressed with these BOWS! What a great idea. Check out ribbon at Costco if you want a good deal on wide wired ribbon. I promise you, it is cheaper than I can buy at the Floral Wholesaler

What a great way to streamline your gift wrapping and still have everything look beautiful!

I write a blog about gift wrapping (www.thegiftedblog.com). I'd love to share your idea on it! Drop me a comment if that's alright by you.

Thanks!
