Bathroom Clean Out

Okay, fine. It was time. Beyond time. My master bathroom cabinet is my dirty little secret--literally. Don't believe me? Take a look.
I could probably write a book on all the things wrong here. Chapter 1 would be titled "Spare Box of Floor Tile: Why Wouldn't You Store Them in Your Bathroom Cabinet?"
Chapter 2, of course, would be titled "Bottles! Bottles! Must Keep the Bottles!"
Allow me to redeem myself. A little organization goes a long way. The fundamentals were there; I just had to implement them.
In case you're wondering, my husband does in fact have 5 sets of tweezers. They are his. He's made that very clear to me. Carry on.

From what I understand, doing laundry is the best way to keep clean towels in your cabinet. And yes, I love the lazy Suzans for storage. They condense and simplify all that chaos.
The rectangular basket is intended for soap, but someone needs to go to the grocery store. Soon. The hot rollers? Never use them. But...what if I need them some day?

It's a glimpse into what could have been an embarassing moment. But, now I'll sit on my organized high horse and look down upon those of you who don't have organized bathroom cabinets. Or 5 sets of tweezers.

Keeping spare bathroom tiles in your bathroom cabinet sounds like a good plan to me! :)

But we also have three sets of everything in our cabinet too.

Looks good!!!

Nice work! My bathroom cupboards and closet are next on my list of areas to tackle. Thanks for the inspiration and great ideas!

I literally just did this too and have since found myself breathing easier and skipping more often! Hmmmm...organization does indeed have health benefits!

Totally on my to-do list for today. The bad news, my closet is about 3 times a big and therefore contains at least 3 times the crap, I mean stuff. Thanks for the inspiration!

Ok, where did you find the jars w/lids for the q-tips and cotton balls? I have been on the hunt for cute containers like that & haven't had any luck.

It looks great! Love the idea of using the lazy susans.

That is one cabinet I have not worked on yet. All my stuff is thrown in a basket. Thanks for the inspiration to get mine done! Have a great week!

So, did you get a new camera? This couldn't have been a more timely post for me! JUST yesterday I stood in my bathroom wondering where on earth to begin to organize and simplify my space. Separating my thing and my husband's things. But seeing your post makes me want to get ON IT!!!

Thanks for sharing great storage tips. I have tons of bottles too and can't part with any of them. I will try out the lazy susan idea. Clean towels...I had no idea how many we had until our daughter emptied her hamper. We almost need another shelf.

Enjoy the organizational high!!

Don't you think your organizational high horse would like some exercise? I mean, wouldn't he love to trot right down here to North Carolina? I could sure use some help!

my husband, too, stakes a firm claim on the tweezers. I have some specifically for crafting and I have warned him if he tries to take either my jewelry making tweezers or my serger-threading tweezers to his nipple hair/ two random hairs on his shoulder / heaven only knows what else hairs, I will STAB HIM IN THE FACE WITH THEM. Goodness only knows why he needs to have a face like a grizzly bear and cleanly-plucked nipples. What the pluck, christopher?

You should have seen my linen closet! Your bathroom is like the understudy to my old closet of skeletons! It feels so good once it's done, though.

I always want to take photos of my before and after closet cleaning projects, but then I wonder who in the world would want to see that? Well, I do and apparently I'm not alone! Looks great! I bet you've gone in there 10 times since you finished just to gaze at the beautifulness of organization!

For once I was ahead of the game on this clean out. I went to get something out of our bathroom closet over the weekend and got frustrated with the mess. I ended up with a trash bag full of 'not necessary goodies' for the trash man today. Now I just smile we I need to go in the closet for something.

I love the lazy susans too. I have them in our half bath because that was the only place to store the medicine. They just make sense. You did a good job. I love to organize. It makes me happy.

Great post! Way to be real! I desperately need to tackle my master bathroom. I, too, have rollers I have never used yet refuse to get rid of. :)

Kristen said...

You don't use the hot rollers?! I break mine out every Sunday when I am practicing my pageant queen hair - the bigger the better you know. I love the lazy Susan idea in the bathroom. Aren't you glad that isn't your name? "I'll just put a few Lazy Chris's in my bathroom cabinet." How embarrassing. Glad your back. I was getting a little ancy.

Great job! It's funny how a seemingly time consuming, difficult project takes mere minutes and results in fabulousness. I can't stand when I put something like that off.

If my bathroom cabinet looked that good, I'd take pictures of it too!!!!

I've been stalking your blog for awhile, but I had to finally post a comment to say that I feel so much better knowing that someone else in the world has a box of leftover tile in their bathroom cabinet. Mine has been there for about a year now. :) I love your blog! Keep up the great work!

That is hilarious! I don't even have 5 pairs of tweezers & I am brow obsessed. I think I need to re-visit my bathroom cabinets now too.

It made me sigh to see it all organized. I hope someday soon mine will be that organized. The lazy susans were a great idea!

Hi Chris,
Great post! Boy do I need to do that to my bathroom.
Thank you so very much for taking the time to comment on my post. I know the decor world isn't the place to talk about this. I just thought, with 250 followers (thanks to you), that's maybe 50 views, and maybe 10 people will tell 10 people about the issue.
So, probably 5 of those will take some kind of action of their own.
Going Veg 2 days a week is the best start.
