Tour de Toilette

I had forgotten that I took some pictures of my mom's place over Christmas. She recently re-modeled all three of her bathrooms, and I'm so proud of how they turned out for her. However, her biggest mistake? She didn't take any before pictures! Crazy, I know.

When you look at these pictures in all their beauty, just try to imagine mauve carpet, dated cabinets, and blue and mauve tile. Just try...

Oh, and replace those svelt looking walls with some wallpaper that's peeling at the edges.

This is just her ensuite bath. Let's look at another one.

This one's my favorite. Perhaps because I spent countless hours showering, primping, and make-uping in this one as I was growing up.

Replace everything with wallpaper, carpet, and ugly yellow-ish cabinets. The sink was a shell shape, and the handles were...ugly. Sorry mom. ;)

She replaced the carpet (with my 1990's hair embedded in it) with a gorgeous, shiny marble. Hello!
Apparently the yellow tiled tub with the foggy doors that didn't work was good enough for me to use. Good thing--those glass doors would have been caked in hairspray!
I just can't get enough of it. Love those sconces.

And finally, she just finished the guest bath on the main floor.

Picture lanoleum flooring, country blue and mauve wallpaper, and dark grainy wood.

Don't forget--the toilet that didn't always want to flush right was in here, too. Not anymore. It's contemporary, it's stylish, and it's cozy. No?

Well, I hope you enjoyed the tour. I so wish I had some befores to show you, but that might involve me getting ready for prom or something. You wouldn't be able to see the room past my hair anyway.

I enjoyed the tour very much. My mother also recently had her bathroom remodeled. My husband and sister did most of the work. I helped too.

I love her bathrooms. That first one is great and I LOVE the paint color in the first one especially. Is there anyway you could tell me the color? Tell your mom she did GREAT!

They look beautiful...way to go Mom!

Your mom has wonderful taste. If my mom re-did anything in her bathroom, it would come out early redneck.

This looks amazing your mom did a great job!!! I wish I could have seen before shots - including your hair! hehe. Trust me we had the same carpet in my bathroom as a kid - I never understood that and I'm sure there was at least 6 lbs of 80's hair w/ Rave hairspray down in the cracks of the carpet when the new owners ripped it up!

Gorgeous! I love the light fixtures over the sink area in your "when I was a teen" bathroom. Love 'em! I really kind of like neutral bathrooms as far as paint and I like how she mixed that with white in these. It makes it so much easier when you want to change out colors for towels and accessories. I did my powder room neutral, mainly because we were going on the market, but I really like the way it looks.

Lynda @ SportsMadGirl said...

Way to go mom!!! They look fantastic.

These are lovely. It's so nice to see neutral in a time when people are making almost too much of a statement with color. Like the previous comment...add the color with the towels and accessories, then when you get tired of that...change it out and it'll still look like you redid the room.

Oh ... and I SO love that I am not the only person who puts a clock in the bathroom. It makes so much sense to glance up while you're getting ready for work or going out to know how you're doing on time.

Well I am glad to see that my parents weren't the only ones to make everything beautiful AFTER I left. I've been out of the house for 12 years but my eyes still sing when I reflect on 1997.It was the year my mom requested I not put posters of Troy Aikman all over the hallway leading to my room and any door within sight of my bedroom. She was worried about posters when she should have been more concerned over my floors in the bathroom...fast-forward to 2009 and she adds the heated flooring. HELLO???WOULDA BEEN NICE IN !!! {haha.} Seriously, the bathrooms look fab.

You make me laugh with the comments about the hairspray and hair in the carpet, LOL! My sister and I thought we lived in a beauty parlor growing up at my Moms house. SHe would say "you girls have hair everywhere!" Funny what you don't notice when your young. Now I nag my boys about their dirty socks and underwear, I guess the more things change, the more they stay the same.
thanks for taking me down memory lane.

Love
Vanessa

I love the idea of a clock in the bathroom - I had never thought of that deerrrr!! I am forever wondering how much longer do I have before I can longer pamper myself and need to attend to 3 wrestling boys!

To all Chris's friends who posted such wonderful and complimentary comments about my bath re-do's. Thank you sooooo much. My before bathrooms were so awful, I don't think I even have pictures of them. The crystal wall sconces were custom ordered from Home Depot. They are (Eurofase) Halina wall sconces. Isn't my daughter hillarious! Her hair spray comment re ignited my nightmare of scraping the mirrors with a metal spatula!!!
