My kids’ mailboxes was one of my very first posts on here. After returning from a weekend with family today, I had two e-mails about them. I’ll use that as a sign to post about them since I have really have nothing more pressing at the moment. I’ve had these mailboxes for a couple of years, but I recently saw them in the unfinished wood department at JoAnn’s fabric. I originally made them because I used to leave for work before my kids got up in the morning.
It was important for me to leave a morning greeting for them, and it was important for them to get something in their mailbox.
The mail has since evolved into special notes of love, special treats to show gratitude for help around the house, or a note of encouragement for doing a good job at school.
My kids absolutely love them, and I can’t say enough about the connection it offers us. Keep in mind my kids don’t know what bills are yet, so they LOVE checking the mail! :)

what a wonderful idea! my children are all grown and sadly know what bills are but I will save this idea to use with grandchildren some day and to pass on to other young moms :)
I love it! It is a sweet way to make sure they know you love them...:) Awww...:) I'll have to remember this for my younger friends! Meme
this is such a great idea. and memories in the making. your kids will remember those mailboxes and the love that they found in them. i like the individuality of them.
We did that for a while... after a valentines day... ours are just metal heart ones... Maybe we will spruce them up and use them as you said... for a wee note a couple times a week! Thanks for the 'nudge' to use them again! =)
Cute idea! I am going to share with my sister for my nephew. Have a great week!
I love the idea of a mailbox...we do it for Valentine's Day for special treats, but I love how you incorporate in everyday. We also have a "fairy mailbox" where the fairy leaves the kids messages...you can check that out here:

I think this is the best idea I have seen in forever. Wow! I can't wait to duplicate it in some way. Thanks for sharing this.
love this idea!! My girls and I do something similar. . we have a notebook/journal that we pass back and forth. So I will write a letter to them and leave it under their pillow. And then they write back. .not necessarily that night. . a week or 2 may pass. . .but when they write back, they stick it under my pillow. It is a way for us to connect. . for them to share. . to keep us talking. . especially as they hit the teen years. . to know that I am here to talk to. The mailbox idea is great though because any member of the family could leave a note. . we have a fairly large family so these mailboxes would be a great way to foster connection among siblings too.
thanks for sharing-

I remember that post! I still love that idea. It's too sweet. It'll be fun when they are older to put thing in like "Don't think I don't know you came in after curfew" and "You owe me $15.00 for gas."

How sweet! I love this idea. I have a soon to be 16 yr. old and he would smile if I left him a note. He wouldn't want it in a mailbox though. LOL!
I love your mail box idea. Wish I had used that for you and your brother. Your so creative in using it for so many different reasons. Quite the inspiration to others to communicate with their kids and make it fun and memorable.
How sweet!
I love this! We have mailboxes too. I love the idea of a place to leave special notes, gifts, treats, etc. Just one more way to show some extra love!
