Where Have I Been?

This temporary single-motherhood is starting to get the best of me. It’s not that I haven’t found time to blog, it’s that I haven’t found time to do anything to actually blog about! You with me on that one?

Sooooo wanna go on a picture tour of what I have been doing? First up, I celebrated this little one’s 8th birthday.

The beadboard is up. Now it’s caulk, wood filler, sand, caulk, stare at it, caulk, walk away. Come back, stare at paint swatches, move them around, caulk. Repeat.

IMG_3233

I keep telling myself it’ll be worth it in the end. If there is an end.

IMG_3237

I painted this room, and I hate the color. I can’t stand it when I paint something white, and it has a pink undertone to it. It’s so close to being done, and I now have to gut it again to re-paint it. Something I’m not necessarily in the mood for, but it must. be. done.

IMG_3239

I grounded my daughter because her room looked like this.

IMG_3240

I grounded my son because his room looked like this.

IMG_3242

To make all the “pain” go away, I went on a therapeutic shopping trip. After my 2 hour drive home, I removed one of the frames to find this. Come on!

IMG_3245

I may or may not have purchased some of this stuff. It took all I had not to buy more. IMG_3248

I’m sure going back to work in a couple of weeks will make all of this way easier, right? I’m off!  Gotta buy more caulk!

Where on earth did you buy that Halloween cookie jar? I love it! I can't seem to stop buying Halloween stuff for some reason!!

can't wait to see your finished product!! It's looking so great!

Sounds like summer!!!!
The fact that your daughter was playing "American Girls" should get her a little reprieve!!! My daughter's away at college and I would love to go back in time to the dolls all over the place!! And if my 16 yr old son would just play with his legos once a month I would be a happy momma!!

Glad you're back!!! (put a stitchery in that broken glass frame...you don't need glass for that!)

Sounds like a good time you've been having.

Sorry to see your Ikea purchase didn't make it home, in the state it was purchased. Been there, done that!

I'm excited to see your Halloween decor.

Woohoo I love that Halloween Jar. Yes I think it is ok to buy lots more of Halloween decor.

Had to laugh at the rooms :) I lived through that with three girls. So you aren't in school yet?! Great! Ours began the first of August and it is stifling hot outside :( A/C's are running overtime and let's not even talk about the heat on the buses for those unlucky enough to have to ride them :/

I'm sorry - what was your name again? If your kids are grounded for that then mine should be sent away somewhere. YOU can see carpet. I cannot.

Your Halloween treats to yourself are fantastic. Love both!! I know what you mean about not having something to blog about. I'll be checking back to see your finished room. Hang in there you'll finish it in due time!

Cute kidlets even if they are little messer-upers...looks like a good project. And that same thing has happened to me with Ribba frames. I am off to IKEA (also 2 hours) next week.

I second/ fifth or whatever number were up to! You have to share where you found the Halloween goodies!! I'm throwing my son a Halloween b-day this year so I'm stocking up on the goods and crafts.

Hang in there. We have all been there with our kids at some point or other. My girls are grown and I just wish they were at home to make a mess. I miss them! Love your Halloween items. Love & blessings from NC!

HomeGoods, everyone! They were just putting all their Halloween items out, and I was taking stuff off the clerk's cart! SUCH great stuff.

Love your Halloween finds. There so nice. Don't be too hard on the kids remember it's summer vacation. I realize how hard it is to keep things in order with two kids, but they grow up really fast. Your Caulk and re-caulk is so like you!

See you soon
Love Mom

I too love the jar: however, it sounds like you need a Mommy day to take a deep breath and enjoy being you. We all (and by all I mean women) have days like this so take time for you today. Relax, don't worry about the blog..we'll hang around waiting for you because we've all had days like this too!

Glad you posted- you crack me up! Choosing paint colors is so tricky- I'm doing the same now. Also, I noticed we have the same bedside table lamp- I think- mine was from Target.

OH you poor thing!! Where did you get the Halloween stuff? If you tell my Ikea I may just have to go tomorrow, I swear. I've been picking up some goodies for a few weeks now -- can't wait!! Hang in there girl!

Hang in there Chris! Check out www.flylady.com---she has a great "flight plan" for daily life! Yours are old enough for the Student Control Journal-they set their morning, after-school, and before bedtime routines. They write them down, can even check them off! And her plan works!!! I have more time to "play" when I do mine! www.flylady.com

Love the beadboard! I feel your pain about caulking. I HATE it!

Oh Honey ~ I'm going to take pictures of my kids rooms and post them. Honest, your kids rooms are clean consider what I deal with on a daily basis! The only thing that stirs them to clean is the sound of the garbage bag heading into their room ... and don't think I wouldn't!

Good to know that I need to stay away from Homegoods or else I would be filling my house up with stuff when I should be packing! I feel your pain sister. I will soon be a single mom for a few months (or longer---until the house sells). No time to blog! But it's great to hear from you!

Don't worry, I wasted four gallons of paint when finishing our basement. I thought the hubs was going to lose it! Oh, and my kids' rooms are just as bad and I try and try....what's a mother to do, right?!

Sorry you are having a rough time. I was a "temporary" single mom for a few months and, aaaaack!

That white DOES look like it has pink undertones.

Love the Halloween stuff, where did you get it?

Cute cookie jar! Reminds me on an English lidded biscuit jar I bought a few weeks ago - black/white with horses.

Ha ha - I wish my kids' rooms were like that. I can't even get in their rooms so I just shut the door and let them live in their filth!

Chris- You kids are so cute. I can see you in both of them. Delightful age !? They do grow up and get different ways of bugging us, though.

Your blog is great. I do enjoy reading it.

We used this smae beadboard just this weekend in my gmas bath renovation. I hear you on the caulk. I am the queen of it now! I can't wait to see the finished product of both yours and gmas :)

Can't wait to see the finished project! We too are wanting to install wide-plank paneling in our living room but am confused about purchasing separate boards or buying pre-fab 4x8 sheets? What did u use and what do you recommend?
