I keep telling myself, “You’re done. No more decorating”, and I’m almost sure I’m listening to myself. Unfortunately, my husband still has lights to string outside. Too bad he doesn’t know that yet.
This little house tour began with the mantel. It’s such a focal point in our home that it’s usually first on my list.
With the mantel comes the tree. It’s definitely a family favorite.
Aside from the dead cardinal at the bottom of the tree (see it?), I’m so pleased with how warm it is. Considering I’m not one for a lot of color, I definitely embrace the pops of it during the holidays.
As you can see, we aren’t the only ones who hibernate in here. The Nemesis is giving his “I’m annoyed, will you please stop taking pictures so I can rest” look.
And then there was that darn $8.00 tree. It was a siren, and I was a sailor. It was a rabbit, and I was the greyhound. Okay, you get it.
Of course, it needed some accessories to go with it.
The advent calendar is housed in the craft room. Since it already has the touches of pink, it seemed only fitting that I would buy another $8.00 tree. It was the siren and I was the…you get it?
I LOVE how it just fits right in. That platter is saying, “You come here often?”
I think I’ll have to write a separate post on the kids’ tree, but it wouldn’t be fair to exclude it from the tour. It was $25.00 at Wal Mart a few years ago, and it’s been very good to me.
If you’re in the mood for some holiday inspiration (and who isn’t?), head over to Nester’s Tour of Homes party. It’s gonna be great! –said like Jerry Seinfeld, of course.

I love you. I know you know this. But the fact that I can read a post from you, be inspired by beauty, AND laugh all at the same time is the reason you are so fab. Great tour. And your wit can't be beat girl! You are the rabbit and I am the... Okay, that's just a bit too creepy, eh? :)
Wonderful home tour. So beautiful.
Thanks for sharing your home.
Blessings, Amy
What a gorgeous home! I happen to love color, so I'm obsessed with your 8 dollar tree's and your main Christmas tree :)
I love the kids' Christmas tree...never knew I was such a fan of white trees! :-)
I'm jealous of your dog. What a cozy room. Everything looks beautiful.
Lovely home. I really did try to find the dead cardinal, but no luck! Take care, Laura
So beautiful and festive, Sarah--yet STILL so sophisticated. I swear, sophistication seems to ooze from your pores. Wait, that doesn't sound quite right--maybe I should say it drips from your fingertips. Yes, that's better. Anyway, I love the way everything looks so warm and inviting, but nothing is cluttered or overdone. It's all JUST RIGHT. Thank you for sharing it!
Beautiful! Everything looks just lovely! Merry Christmas!
Looks wonderful! But seriously, are we ever really done? Not until December 25th!
It's all just beautiful! I adore your $8 trees - love the color. It's all very warm and inviting!
Just Lovely!
I am in LOVE with your sailor rabbit tree! :)
Your home is lovely. And like Beth, you always make me laugh. Thank-you.

Oh Chris, to know that above and beyond being a mother, wife, etc you also have a career! And yet you still find the time to delight us with your ideas, inspirations, and send us off to other interesting blogs you've found. You're one of my favs for many reasons. Have a blessed time getting ready for the time off from school for a bit!
I love it all! That pink and blue tree is divine:)
You always do such a great job, Chris! Love the pink & blue trees & your big tree is gorge. I couldn't find the dead bird. :)
Can't wait til we all meet up in Nashville!
Everything looks so pretty, I love your style of decorating! Have a very Merry Christmas!!!!
You come here often...I spit out my hot chocolate.
LOL It's a task that never ends.
Your home is very festive and cheerful looking. I love all the bright colors.
Beautiful, cozy, welcoming and festive!
Kim:)
I'm back just to say that I TOTALLY spotted the dead bird right off the bat and am more than happy to help anyone find the poor, nose-dived cardinal if they need my "where's waldo" skills! Psst. Look at the bottom left corner of the tree pic. Said dead bird is tail-up by the green gift bag. RIP.
Love your home and everything in it. Your decor looks so classy and yet so down to earth and real. Love it dead cardinal and everything and being a former catholic I was looking for a hanged man in a robe :-)
Love it! The pops of color are beautiful and I do love the pink tree!!
I have to ask (and maybe I missed some sort of announcement) where did Show and Share Day on Fridays go?
What a great resource!
I thought the best part of this post was that you haven't told your Husband that he still has more lights to hang! :) Have you told him yet? Was he surprised?

Hi, I love your decorations. I especially loved that turquoise tree. Can I ask where you got it? I have never seen one like that. Very unique. Happy New Year.
