Weekend in Review

No spray paint was involved and besides organizing them, no glue guns were used either. However, it was a busy weekend! In an effort to give a “holla!” to all the hard-working women out there (can you tell I’ve been listening to a lot of Beyonce this weekend?), I thought I’d share a little picture tour of my accomplishments.

Two kinds of people will appreciate this picture. 1. Anyone who lives in Michigan—no more boots! 2. Anyone who fights the daily war with shoes.

Just pretend this picture’s obvious. I washed rugs this weekend. I hate washing rugs. It’s a little disenchanting because now that means I have to tackle the floor underneath them, but at least that part is done.

Target rug

I spent no less than three Beyonce songs (told ya) and two Justin Bieber songs (don’t judge) turning this…

into this… More to come on this one.

There was a lot of this over the weekend. Why, exactly, did we think it would be such a great idea to have some land?

When summerizing the deck, my husband found this adorable little bird’s nest.

Well, I guess little is a relative term here. It’s not the first time, though. Remember??

What are the kids doing while we’re slaving away? This. Don’t ask.

Hopefully your weekend was as productive, yet more normal than ours! Orrrr…maybe you’re like us and this is normal.

My heart goes out to you on the grass cutting. I don't have anywhere close to that amount of land...but hate cutting it.

I kind of love those weekends... puttering around and getting all of those odds and ends jobs done.

Your yard is stunning! But man, that must be a pain to mow... :)

I can't believe that nest! Seriously, think of all that hard work that went into it, amazing. I wish I could say I was as productive as you were, I can't wait to see what the white fabric has turned into! Beautiful yard!

hi! I appear to have the same flooring as you! I have one question, what in the heck do you use to remove bare foot marks. I seem to have smudges from feet all the time, the floor only looks good when Its wet :( care to share what you use? or do you have this issue? ha

'No boots' rings a bell... the harsh weather is finally over and we have bright sunny days in Michigan as well. Even my husband and I completed a lot of pending tasks!!

I would love to have a house like yours with a yard like that! I can understand how big a task mowing would have been but you did a wonderful job!!

The little net is just so lovely. Are those eggs blue for real or they appeared so in the pic?

oh, I feel your pain on all of the boots and such. We live in New England. I did not put our boots away that long ago!! I need to find a better solution for shoes/boots near our door. ugh! I sooo wish we had a mudroom.

Also, I wish our grass looked that good! ;-) It did look pretty good for a while, but a really harsh winter did a number on it. So now we have some lawn work to do, when I'd really rather be doing other stuff!

Love the shoe organizer - what a great way to keep all the shoes organized...you wouldn't even want to see our front closet right now! And...your house (and land) is amazing!! Glad you had a productive day...Beyonce always helps :)

I hope y'all have a riding lawn mower!! Your home is beautiful however; and I love that shoe organizer. We need something like that for our hall closet; shoes are never taken off upstairs and we are forced to have to tote them upstairs.

Looks like a well spent weekend!
Where did you find your shoe storage? We soooo need something like that.

P.S. I have green grass envy.

We have birds that make nests in our grill, too, but the nest is tiny! Like smaller than my fist! I would crap myself if I opened my grill to your huge nest!

Ouch.. that is a LOT of mowing! It is lovely though!

You're hilarious. The picture of that insane nest (!) is only topped by the one of your daughter. She must have quite an imagination! :)

I have two shoe organizers just like that in our hall closet, and it annoys me to no end that the kids' shoes end up laying all over the entry area everyday regardless! I have been debating taking the shoe organizers out and just getting a big bin for each kid! Our houses look just the same, too, except different colors and you have dormer windows in the attic, which we don't. Do you, too, long to break out of the colonial mold in terms of the windows? And finally, yes, love this weather, but there's so much more yard work to do now! I leave the mowing to my husband.

what happened to show and share?!?! Is it over...? Great house btw

Your yard looks good. Especially considering all the rain we have had of late. It is a real shore just finding it dry enough to mow. The only way to keep shoes even remotely organized is to live ALONE. Even then, I seem to have dozens of them everywhere. Glad you had such a productive weekend. I am pondering about Olivia??? Either she is George Washington going down the river or Johnny Depp the pirate being patriotic. HOW VERY FUNNY!!!!! Love Mom
