Dollar Store Jackpot!

Whenever I say that, I always sing it to Grease's "Beauty School Dropout". And yes--I DO sing it. We had some houseguests again this weekend (yes, again), so I once again got behind on my blogging. However, I DID get to do some shopping on Friday, and I hit the motherload at the dollar store.

Lookie lookie!! Eat your hearts out, ladies. Susie found these some time ago, and they've been on the hot list ever since. I have to admit that I've had them in my cart MANY times only to put them back. Shame on me, I know. I finally saw them used as a napkin holder for a fall placesetting, and I was sold. I host Thanksgiving every year, and every year I struggle with how to decorate the table. Now...if I could only find 8 more of these!
I just can't get over how cute the dollar store's Halloween (all holidays, for that matter) stuff is! These aren't in their "finished state" just yet, but look at what I have to work with! I love little signs hanging on stuff all over the house, so these made me squeal with delight!

Can you tell what I'm going to do with this stuff? Aren't you just dying to know? Get it? Dying? Hooo ha ha ha hee hee...I just kill myself! Get it? Kill myself? Oookay. Moving on.
Right now you're thinking, "Is she crazy?" Yes, I am. No harm in trying it though, right?
I am a tea towel fanatic. I really only use them in my kids' bathroom--you know, the one that doesn't have the painted cabinets yet--but I just love having them for every little holiday. However, I didn't like these. (I tried turning this picture, and it didn't work. Huh.)
I like these instead. Plain black tea towels are VERY hard to find. A little ribbon and glue fix for ya!
Yes. That's a wet wipe container. I've been trying to come up with something decorative to do with it. Ideas? I need it there, but it's not too pretty to look at.
I've got about 9 projects going on right now, so I hope to have some good stuff coming up for you. It will include a tutorial of the Halloween advent calendar. A lot of you have asked, and I aim to please!

Ooo! I'm the first to comment! I checked your site a couple hours ago - no new post. Then I just felt like just maybe there would be something brand new. And I was happy to be right! Can't wait to see the projects in the works. Love love love the ribbon on the towel idea. How did you attach them? Fabric glue? Hope all is well!

You girls must have better dollar stores where you live. Mine stinks. Literally. And they don't have those cute white pumpkins. I'm so excited to see your projects. I need some scary ideas for my house. :-)

You are so lucky to have found those pumpkins. They are gone here. Apparently, everyone must have read these blogs, and thought they were a great idea too. Love the tea towels. Much better than the little designs they had on them originally.

Can't wait to see how your skull and bones come out.

Hi Chris,
I haven't seen those little white ones here...but found the orange and brown. The other day they were out of them all!

Love what you did with the tea towels. Very cute!

I drove all over God's green earth last week in attempt to find a Dollar Tree. Nothing. Nada. By golly I'm finding one this week! Knowing my luck they won't have the good stuff.

I too am a tea towel lover. I just realized yesterday that I need to weed out some in the girl' bathroom. Way too many to fit in the cabinet. I like how you added the ribbon.

Can't wait to see how your skeleton bones turn out:)

I love a good dollar store shopping spree! As for the wet wipe box...I've seen some really cool ones covered in fabric. I don't know how to do it...but I'm sure YOU could figure it out!

I've been to 4 different dollar trees looking for Susie's black crows with no luck. But I did fine the white and brown pumpkins that I picked up! I'll keep my eyes open for you :)

Love your tea towels and can't wait to see what you do with those signs!

Did you really paint those skeleton bones? Cool! I recently scored some pumpkins at a .99 cent store. That was exciting for me too!

That is a great idea to take a plain towel and dress it up with a ribbon. I never would have thought of that!

When you say "dollar store," do you mean Dollar Tree, where everything's a dollar? Or do you mean a store like Dollar General? Cuz I'm going to one of those tomorrow to see what goodies they have! :-)

I've been going back and forth with the glitter bones - You've inspired me, I think I'll try it.

CUTE hand towels! If you only glued the ribbon on, are they okay to use? I need details. :o) Can't wait to see how your bones turn out! Your Dollar Tree must be a good one. My local one realllllly stinks and they have almost no fall/Halloween items left already. They didn't have much to start with, but now it's all Christmas!

I saw those bag of bones at the dollar store and almost bought them.

Our dollar store doesn't have any of the good stuff.

You scored big time! Yay you!

I like the ribbon on the tea towels! Clever! :)

Very good ideas! I really like the skull and bones.

As far as the wipes container...I always use baskets to put on top of toilet lids then I hide stuff in them like wipes, combs, washclothes, etc. If you don't like that Idea how about hot-gluing ribbon around the container? Good luck!

I live in a small town and my dollar store is nothing compared to what some of you bloggers have, guess I need to head to the BIG city!

Oh I did get those bones, skull and so on...yep you must be going to do what I am doing...

Love all your stuff, gotta do me some tea towels with ribbon. Never even crossed my mind!

I love it all!!! I can't wait to see your glitter skeleton!! Great idea on the tea towels!

I love that "Witch Way?" sign, and have it out front by the door. It's great how the Dollar Tree's decorations are getting better and better. Paying a buck for adorable wooden Jack'o'Lantern signs instead of the $7 or more elsewhere is great. I am excited to see how your glitter bones turn out. I've watched Martha glitter her heart out for Halloween and wanted to attempt it myself. I'm not brave enough...yet, lol! (I also stock up on glow bracelets - 12 for a $1!)

Girl, I love the tea towel makeover! Love it! I had a cute one in my cart this morning but I put it back because I thought to myself "I can make something cuter than this." And then here you are, making them so cute for your kiddos bathroom. Way to go! As for my vinyl letters on my Boo pumpkins...I got them at Hobby Lobby. They were 50% off last week...they come in a cylindrical cardboard container and they are meant for putting words on walls but obviously we don't need to worry about that rule. They had mostly pre-written phrases but the container I got just had the alphabet. I bet you can find them at your HL...just bring a coupon because regularly the letters were $29.99. Little too pricey for me!

Yep, those towels are just too cute! Lucky you, finding the Dollar Tree white pumpkins. I looked at 3 stores & nada. But, one of my friends found some for me & I'll get them yet.

Man! I've been checking your blog and now there are 34 people ahead of me. Really like the tea towels. I too want to know if you sewed or glued? Those cute signs are great, where do you plan on putting them? Perfect color...black and cream. Hope you had fun with your house full of company. Bet they love all your crafts!!! mom

I too agree that the tea towels are darling. Super-de-dooper! Can't wait to see what you do with the signs. I saw them at the store and thought that they were cute, but not cute enough. How's that for no imagination. As for the wipes container, you could cover it in fabric and batting and trim. I have done it and it looks nice. It still looks like a wipes box though so you decide if you want it to stand out more.

LOVE the pumpkins! We will probably be hosting Thanksgiving too, so I might have to go in search of them... which dollar store are they at? dollar general? dollar tree? dollar somethingelse?

oh, and I do the little tea towels all the time too. I only have halloween, thanksgiving, christmas, and valentines day. all summer long the plain ol' purple and white ones just stay. i love the idea of dressing them up with ribbon. love love love love

Okay! Same wavelength. I glittered some of those dollar store bones last year (why pay Martha prices?) and even glittered up those exact same signs! I nailed them right to the trees in my yard, very very cool. I guess all dollar stores are the same.

I used some of the same signs from Dollar Tree to make a halloween wreath, check it out if you have time--no one seems to appreciate my love for all things HALLOWEEN!

You seem like you "get it", though!
