The Kids' Tree

What to do with kids' ornaments. Do you hide them in the back of the tree? Do you "forget" to take them out of the storage box? Or do you just buy them an entire tree for themselves to show off their macaroni and glue skills?
She sho is pretty...
She was only $20.00 last year at Wal-Mart. I think they still have her, actually. There's just something about a white tree with all those colorful ornaments that screams whimsy. Children=whimsy, right? They LOVE decorating it, and they LOVE going through the special boxes with all their ornaments that they've made in years past.
Can you spot all the handmade ornaments? Okay, so the first one's easy.

She's one of my favorite items to get out. It's a pre-lit tree, it's easy to fluff, and it's sooo cute! If you're wondering what to do with all those foam, felt, and glittered ornaments, perhaps this is the route for you.
Of course, it's always fun to buy a few ornaments for "Mom" too. :)

This is our first year doing the kid tree, and I LOVE it! The boys are only 2 and 3, but they take so much pride in decorating it and putting things the way they want them. My boys picked a tree with colored lights, but the white is great!

Get the kids their own tree.

Cute. We have some of the kids ornaments on our main tree. I have a lot of red/white/silver stuff, but I also have family ornaments, ornaments from when I was a kids, etc. There's a good mix. And I also have a lot of the more whimsical ones on the advent tree in the dining room. It's cute...

Such a good idea...I used to do this in my old house. I might do it again, once I don't have a toddler running around pulling it all down...maybe next year! I love the white tree...so cute!

We have kids trees too. Each child has a tree in their rooms that they can decorate with all their own ornaments. Then everyone is happy!!

This is so great! I look at those white trees in Walmart every time I go in, and I want one. I'm definately keeping this idea for the future, when Noah's a little older. And I like the comment about putting the tree in their room. Very personalized!

Love the idea of having a tree just for the kids' ornaments. We have a play room that we could put it in. My kids are still a little young yet to have any, but I'll be sure to remember this for future Christmases.

What a cool tree! My son has his own also. I give him all of the Hallmark ornaments to hang and he loves it. Every kids should have their own tree.

Happy Friday Chris!

I like the white tree. We have done this with a green tree, but the white is so much more fun, as if the room had a ton of snow in it!

It looks so cute!! We have a tree for our 2 year old's room so he can take down the stuffed ornaments and rearrange them whenever, so that way he leaves the big tree alone. It worked last year... we'll see about this year. I love your WalMart find, way cuter than ours, I may have to search once the holiday is over and replace this one. I LOVE YOUR BLOG!! Thanks so much for sharing so much!

Happy Holidays!

When I was little-there was always a kid tree. With tinsel and everything!!
I am a mean mom-I don't have a tree for my kids to decorate. So-i got to thinking. Since it is the giving season-I decided to let them all have a little tree in their rooms. Just the set of 3 little trees that I picked up at michaels a few years ago. They light it up and made decorations and added their own from the years past! They love it! it works for a night light as well.
It was also a great bribing tool for a couple of days.
I love the white tree! I am going to look for one the day after Christmas-I think it would be super cute in my kitchen! You know-decked out with measuring cups and spoons-rolling pins, siver ware-cooking mits. all kinds of weird-"NON" ornament items!!
Thanks for the ideas!

Very cute! When I was a kid we had a small tree of our own too. Well, actually more like pre-teen, I guess. But I still loved having a tree of our own.:o)

I bought a new tree last year and kept the old one for the kids to put "their" ornaments on... I just haven't actually gotten it out of the attic yet. lol

Great job on the tree. I am sure the kids love it. Right now I only want those special handmade ornaments on my tree but maybe I will change my mind in the coming years.

I LOVE this idea! I was going to try and talk my husband into buying 2 trees this year so we could do just this but I think buying a fun and funky one for the "kids tree" is a great idea! I might head over to Wal-Mart next week :)
