Cleaning Break

The holidays always leave my house in a bit of shambles. I try to play catch up, but as soon as my head gets above water, I have to go back to work. So...I've been busy.

Does anyone else ever feel like this is your life? It seems like so many of you talk about how your husbands do so much around the house, but I think I got in the wrong line when it came to that. I'm madly in love with him, but I think this is more my reality.
Because it's against my religion to leave you with no pictures, here's my accomplishment in our master bathroom.
Can you hear it say, "Shing! Shing!" as you look at it? Don't yours say that when they're sparkly clean?
I'll be back. I'm going to pray to the snow gods that we have a snow day tomorrow. Yes, that's what we teachers do.

I completely did not get in that line either. Toby is great with the kiddos and if I ask him to do something but generally....all housework is left to yours truly.

I'm doing a "Snow Dance" to beckon the Snow Gods to bless you with a much deserved day off.

Don't you just love snow days?? I get so much done! Hubby and I are both teachers, but at different school districts and he's had two days so far and I've had none! It sucks! I get so much done when he's gone (like painting my entire kitchen!)

I lucked out in that line because my hubby is great at helping around the house and with cooking. Sometimes I think the kiddies would be better off if he stayed home and I went to work.

Love the photos of your bathroom. I would love to see more of it.

Have a great day!

Well, I live in Illinois and they say we are getting a blizzard!! It has started to snow and I think we're looking at 4 inches or so. Then come the 30 mph winds. I live close to my job but they let me have off if it's too bad :o)
P.S. Bathroom looks great!!

I SO know what you mean. My classes start back tomorrow, and I was just starting to feel "caught up."

Oh girl! I must have followed you to the wrong line. LOVE the hubbs, but he is zero help around the house...great with anything to do with the kids...not so great domestically. Btw, that is THE shiniest sink and faucet EVAH! Looks awesome. Good luck with the snow day.

As a teacher myself, I'd love a snow day tomorrow also. Here's hoping!

We don't get snow in Florida, only hurricanes, can't say I'm wishing for one of those. Snow days are great. We had them when we lived in Pa. I'll start doing the snow dance for you.(gosh, I'm glad this computer doesn't have eyes).

Hi Chris,
We used to beg for snow...but in recent years we always had to make it up. They quite putting built in days in the calendar!

Hope you get some snow!

Your faucets look really nice! I need to take a picture of my bathroom when it is clean-if I ever get around to cleaning it. LOL

You mean Radish isn't receptive to a kick in the arse to get him motivated??? lol SWEET bathroom faucet. I swear, I don't think you'd ever talk to me again if I showed you a picture of what my sink looks like in my bathroom right now. Scaaaaary. :oX

Ky said...

Darn, I knew you looked familiar... I was standing AHEAD of you in the same line. *lol*

Oh well, you are "blessed" with snow days. We (Florida teachers) get hurricane days in which we get nothing done because we usually have no power or a/c LOL.

Betsy said...

I'm a teacher, too, and YES we do pray for snow days!! I wish we had more here in NC! Your faucet looks great and so sparkly!

Heather said...

I am with you, Chris! I was praying hard last night for a snow day. How else are we supposed to get everything done?

HouseMama said...

No one told me where the line was, so I missed out too. Love the faucet - looks great!

Valarie Lea said...

I am right there with you! I hate cleaning with people in the house. It urks me to no end to be cleaning and everyone else just sit and watch me. I would rather them just go out for the day. :)

Amber Filkins said...

That sink is shinging for sure.

My hubby helps when I ask. But it's basically on his own time {which bugs me b/c when I want help I usually mean NOW rather than later}. But actually, as I type this he's finished up putting dinner away and is helping our daughter with homework. :)

We don't have snow days here, we have "foggy day schedule". Which basically means that school is delayed for one or two hours. No matter, my hubby still goes early anyways!! AND he has an hour commute. Now THAT'S insanity...I mean, dedication. :)

Too funny. I am a teacher in Northern IN and I am just hoping for a snow day or a "freezing" day. I need to get my house in order also. I'm also starting an on line class and want to take a look at that.

Living in Houston doesnt help im sure.

I hope you get your snow day!

That illustration says it all. Thanks for sharing what I have been thinking.

We crave snow days here, but it's been some time.

I hope you get yours!

You're so funny! I love the comic strip. And I'll tell you what...that is one shiny faucet. Very pretty!!

My hubby does all of his own laundry, the trash and cat litter every week (which for me is HUUUUGE) and the lawn work. EVERY thing else is me, which I am very OK with, since he makes about 98 percent of the money. ;) Wow. I just read through that again and he does a lot. OK, he's good. Anyway, I'm with you.

wow, I'm impressed!! going to share what got the water spots off so good? I thought you were using a googled pic of a new faucet! go, girl!!

Oh sure, the snow day we had before Christmas sounded great at the time! I teach at a year-round school. They cancelled a staff development for the kids to make up the snow day in March. But teachers have to make up the snow day in August after school is out - making our very short break between school years even shorter! Be careful what you wish for!

What-EVER! I happened to get lucky (not in that way) when I came home and Dan had cleaned house. I sang his praises. He helps but I have to make a list and he needs to be asked. Didn't want anyone thinking I married a saint. He's a great guy but our levels for cleanliness are much much different!

I am loving your new faucet. That is really pretty! It would look perfect in my guest bath that I'm re-doing this month so fess up to where you found it!

soo cute! I am glad your getting some cleaning done...I should be doing that, but Im busy checking blogs and facebook! LOL

Well, I get it. At some point, I have to stop trying to get it all done and start planning and loading classes. Yes, I teach as well and I never seem to get it all done after the holidays in time to get back to school with things all neat and tidy. Where does the time go? I am, however, lucky to have a husband who helps out when he can, but he too is teaching and is going to school! How did life get this way? :)

I prayed for snow yesterday, the first day of school, is that bad? ~Kelly

My husband used to be better. He admitted the other day he should start helping out more around the house. I won't hold my breath... but I will anxiously await the day.

Your fixtures look so nice and shiny! I need to replace our 1970s fixtures in our bathroom for some shiny new ones!!

My hubby is nearly useless when it comes to cleaning, organizing, cooking, and laundry.. but great for spiders! There still aren't enough enlightened husbands out there. I finally gave mine an ultimatum: I can work all day like you do (I taught too - so I feel ya when it comes to snow days!) and we can make a list of all household chores and split them 50% - or I can make doing the household chores my fulltime job. You choose. I'm now a SAHM! ;P

My husband must have been in line with yours and I must have been just a person away from you in line. He has no concept of putting ANYTHING away. Nothing. Zilch. Nada. Zero. One thing after another keeps breaking in our house (major things) and I'm still trying to clean up after the mess before. I'm in a never ending disgusting cycle of mess. Remember my washer busting up? Yeah, my laundry room still isn't back to normal and the dog kennels are still located in another room. Shoot me.

Honey see you are not alone. It just feels like that. Us women need to be proud of ourselves for how strong we are. What would our kids lives be like without great mom's like you. You are tooooo funny with your "I got in the wrong line". From the lady blogers, they got in the wrong line too. I've always tried to figure out how the "the women in the other line" gets their husbands to do it? Guess it's a mystery huh. Your faucets look super!!!!!It's true, I hear them in my head singing "yea...I'm clean" Your make my day. Keep seeing the humor. It helps get us through.
