I've got class!

Well, I'm out of town (at my mom's) for a funeral, and I'm still blogging. Very normal. However, I thought I might "show off" my classroom. Someone had asked me about it a long time ago, and I just never remember to bring my camera with me. 7:00AM is a little early to remember such things, you know? Last week I went to work and realized during 2nd hour that my shirt was inside out. Needless to say, the camera's not on the top of my list! :)

I guess we'll begin with how mean I am...

But, really. How mad can you be about my "strict" policy when the sign itself is so cute? This is my whole "scrapbooker who doesn't scrapbook" thing.

If you're a teacher, you know about germs. My best advice is to make sure the kids have their OWN supply table. If Billy wants to sneeze into his hand and touch the stapler, at least Suzie will get it--not you. Survival of the fittest around here, folks.

Next up? Bulletin boards. I got tired of my boards being too blah, so what better excuse to go to the fabric store? The first one is pictures about me and my life. This way, I have evidence that teachers do NOT live in cages after school hours. Kids love it!

I didn't use fabric on this one, but that is scrapbook paper as the border. Cut it into strips and staple. Note: My 4th hour last year thought they were particularly cool that they knew my first name. Hence the poster. They all signed it. Reason #452 why I love teaching.Right now you're thinking, "But how does she organize?" If not, take a moment to think it. I use binders for all my handouts, overheads, etc.

They may look a little boring above, but once they're on my desk...VA VA VOOM!
I don't know why this one won't turn right. Please tilt your head to the left.(Your heads are all turned to the left, aren't they?) In case you're wondering where I send all my friends e-mails type up my lesson plans...
And finally (yes, finally), my girly stuff. Every. single. notebook, notepad, sticky note, folder, and binder is girlified. It's my room, it's my space. I went/go a little crazy with it!
My advice to new teachers out there? ALWAYS have a stack of thank you notes on hand. You never know when you'll get that homemade tin of fudge or the handknit mittens that you need to quickly send a note of thanks out for.
So there it is! My home away from home. I hope you liked all the pink, green, purple, paisley, and polka dots!

very pretty. Its so good surround ourselves with pretty things (to us) and they don't even have to be expensive. We just have to be creative. Sometimes for me that's hard but when I do, I get all excited. :)

Your classroom is so cute! I love it. I think I am going to make some cool binders like that too...I usually get bright colored paper for them, but it would be so much fun to use scrapbook paper instead! It would be a great way to make my office girly!

I have my binders the same way, although I like your organization process with putting them in the file cabinet and having all handouts in one place instead of in file folders. Thanks for that idea! I get a lot of slack from other teachers about having "creative, pretty binders". Like you, it's my "scrapbooking" time :)

Sorry you are at a funeral, but I did enjoy getting to see your classroom! I bet the girls in your classes think you are the coolest thing since sliced bread. Love everything you have done!

O.K. where do you get all of your great paper? I am so jealous! You also have inspired me for when I go back to teaching after this SAHM gig. DH teaches HS social studies and he doesn't take late work either. The parents just LOVE that. He has had many a conference regarding his "meanness". :)

Love all the cute paper "stuff." Makes me want to go spend some time in the scrapbook section at every store. Love that I'm not alone in wearing clothes inside out. :)

I love it! Very cute! And very functional! I have never done the inside out thing (that I remember haha) but I *did* where my shirt backwards all day long once. I wondered why it felt so funny.

OK, my daughter's kindergarten classroom looks like a bomb went off in it (literally)! It is not the kids mess, trust me, it's her teachers! Hopefully, at some point, she will have a super cool, organized teacher such as you! fun fun!

I have been reading your blog for awhile, but have never commented. But today, I just had to! I'm in my first year as a high school English teacher, and your room has completely inspired me. It was a total lightbulb moment--I need to bring some of me, some of my style into my room. It's so boring and dull and I have SO many papers everywhere and I hate fighting with manila folders in a filing cabinet. I'll be headed to Staples for binders :) And making my classroom my real "home" away from home

I love your classroom decor! It looks great. What a fun and inspiring place to come to every day. I have girly stuff at my office, too, seeing as I'm surrounded by two boys and two male dogs and a male cat at home. Gotta get my pink in where I can!

So tidy! The only day my desk/classroom is quite that tidy is the first day of school - before the kids get there. After that, my desk is a drop and run zone. I see the faux wood grain again on the last day of school! :)

I love using fabric on the bulletin boards. So many more choices!

one can never have enough polka dots, paisley, and other fun patterns. Never! If i could wear them all together at the same time-I would. I am pretty sure that others would make fun of me. Or wish that they could pull of being as cool as me. I am thinking it would be the latter. What do you think? Thanks for the inspiration! I love it-like usual.
