Spring Bling Part 1

Testing. Testing 1, 2, 3. Hello? Is this thing on?

Here I am. On my new computer. That drained my bank account. So, I thought I'd celebrate by showing off some spring decor. At this point, it's really Easter decor, but pink is pink, right?

My focus of this post is to expose you to some shopping avenues for holiday decor that you haven't thought about before. This adorable egg wreath was purchased at Pier 1 last year--for $6.00! A lot of people don't think of Pier 1 as a holiday store, nor do they realize the deals they can get if they just wait it out. I immediately regret sharing that with you. :)
My mom bought me this birdcage a couple of years ago at Target. Can you believe I've never actually put anything in it until now? The little, white bird was from a consignment shop for $.99. I spray painted it cream--it was green. Not bad.

I bought the green mossy grass at Pottery Barn outlet store last spring. It was $2.50 a bag. You bet I bought more than one!! I love the color of it!

The little birds' nests that you see in pretty much every picture are one of my all time favorite purchases. I bought them last spring at a Smith and Hawken outlet store. There were 6 of them in a bag for $4.95. I use them ALL the time, and they seem to float all over my house. They look so real!

The ceramic egg? Dollar Store. I bought two of them. I'll show off the other one tomorrow.
A lot of pictures here, and I don't know why. Lots to look at, I guess.

I'll have some more pics tomorrow. This post took me about 7 hours to do. Laptops! Argh!

Very cute and springy! I haven't put out any Easter stuff yet. I have a cute Easter tree up in the closet somewhere. Now that I think about it, I think I donated most of my Easter stuff to charity. Doh!

I have a bunch of nests as well. I keep them out all year round, always have. I think they work with any season. Yours was a great score...such a good price!

Love your decorations!!! I especially love the egg wreath...to cute!!! I'm going to have to start shopping at Pier 1 (thanks for the tip).

Last year for Easter, I ordered egg nests and blue robin egg truffles from Williams-Sonoma and sent them to all my friends. They were so cute, I wish I would of taken a photo of them. But I did not get the bargain you did on the nests. I need a Smith and Hawkins Outlet by me because I need those cute little nests for this Easter.

Oh, I just love your Easter decor! Can you believe I don't have any eggs, nests, or birds? Never even occurred to me until I started blogging and saw them everywhere!

My sister has a laptop and brought it with us when we went to Blissdom. I thought I was the only one to have problems with it. When you get use to a mouse its hard to use your finger, ugh! Not sure if I will ever get use to using one. I am glad that you are back up and running again. Love your spring decor...that wreath is calling my name~

Hopefully you will get the hang of your new computer!

Yes we are "neighbors" - Hudsonville! My in-laws are in Rockford. Such a small world!

I have the same wreath from Pier 1 and I LOVE IT. I have it displayed on or kitchen table, it is rather hard to hang I have found. How did you get yours to hang. I saw you used a ribbon, but dont know how you looped it around the wreath. PLease let me know, I would love to hang this pretty thing.

Never would have thought to look at Pier 1 for Easter/spring stuff but now I know :) I've never been the Easter decorating type, everything I see just seems dang cheesy but I guess I just need to look harder! I really want those nests btw...

Love your spring decor. I have always wanted to do seasonal decorating, but have only succeeded at Christmas. I will be on the look out for sales after the season so I am prepared next year. Stop by and check out the wreath that I made using the Pier 1 wreath as inspiration.

Oh.My.Gosh.

Saa-wooon.

Love it all, seriously. I mean, that wreath is to die for, and for $6!? Thanks for sharing, even though you regret it. I promise there is plenty of distance b/w us & you won't have to compete with me snagging all the goods at the local Pier One. Now...anyone in Fresno, CA.....watch out! :) j/k

Love all the other stuff. That bird is so cute. I can't believe the deals you got on all of that stuff!

{Oh, and p.s. I REFUSE to use a laptop w/o a mouse. That may be the difference in your experience with the laptop. You should use one!...You too Susie!}

Love all the Spring/Easter decor. I was wondering where the glitter was?? :)
Sorry you had to buy a new computer. Unplanned expenses are always the worst. Especially in today's economy.

Oh man. Even tho I paint for a living I have a degree in computers. Go figure. I can barely reboot the thing. We need a new one and I am just dragging my feet at the expense. Love all your goodies though!

yes, yes, yes!! I love Pier 1 for holiday items. I got the most gorgeous Christmas decorations for next to nothing this year and I can't wait to get them out next year.

Your house looks gorgeous and I hope it brings you some cheer even if your bank account is depleted! Love the nests!

That wreath speaks to me. In fact, it just told me it wants to come live with me. Sorry, I hope your feelings aren't hurt.

BTW, LOVE what you put in your birdcage. I just got my first one yesterday and I am totally crushing on it. Now I need to fill it up with spring goodies!

glad to hear you are up and running with the laptop - I agree with you - it always takes me longer to post pictures and everything at home with the laptop - I prefer the desktop at work by far-
The key is to get a little wireless mouse if you havent already!

You are all decked out for Spring. I always forget about Pier One, but when I go in there I always find some great items. I only have a Happy Easter sign thing on my front door...I think I need to go shopping for some Easter decor!

Cute stuff!

Love the wreath.

I so wish we had more home thrift stores and outlet stores out here... just clothes and shoes. All the confinement stores out here also don't have any decorating things- just furniture and clothes. Most the time we are just forced to pay full price or 30% for most things holiday- that's good ole Orange County Ca :) Which pretty much goes to show that yes it's just like what you see on TV haha. Great.

Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality said...

Chris, I love all your thrifty finds! It all looks so pretty.

I love all the little nests and eggs. The apothecary jars look so beautiful & springy! Nice job!

Jen said...

Ok now I have to go dig out all my easter stuff - I don't think it's seen the light of day in 3 years. Thank you for the inspiration!

ps - I will NEVER give in to a laptop - no matter how much hubby wants me to take his so he can get new! :-)

love your decorations! isn't it amazing what we can do with a can of spray paint:)

michelle said...

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! You were my inspiration for buying my first apothecary jar and I saved up some Michael's coupons, and bought three. Of course, my son knocked over the biggest one and broke it! URG. I bought a bell jar yesterday that used to be $20, and I got it for $8! I was so excited, and your bird cage gives me some ideas for it! Thanks for always sharing and giving me inspiration! I can't wait for the after Easter sales...Hollar!

You are so right about Pier 1. My hubby used to work there and now my sis-n-law does. Their sales can be down right amazing sometimes. My sis-n-law came home the other night with a gorgeous candle holder she had wanted for a few months. It was originally almost $60 marked down to $5.53! I sure do love your egg wreath!

Kimba said...

You are the bargain queen! Love that wreath! I have a similar one around here somewhere. It's probably still in a box somewhere.

I rarely shop at Pier 1 but that's about to change, my friend.

Love your decor! I am terrible, I never decorate for seasons. I put up the minimum for Christmas, because my family loves it. I think it comes from having a dysfunctional family when I was growing up. Anyway, I am going to try harder now that I have seen your stuff!

Betty said...

I want to grow up to be you. I love your blog.

LOVE your taste!

I'm going to Pier One and Pottery Barn on Monday!!!

Wow, I didn't realize that Easter is such a big deal for you. Look at all that decor! We don't even celebrate Easter at home, let alone decorate it with Easter-related things.
I love the egg wreath! :D
