A Plethora of Pegboard

Anytime I can use the word plethora, I’m a happy camper.  “Three Amigos”, anyone?  I’m back from a visit back home.  The time has come for my grandparents to move in with my mom, and we went home to go through 60 years of their lives together in their home.  What a daunting task.

Long story short, we came home with a ton of stuff—including tons of brand new tools.  You know what that means, don’t you?  We now need a new workbench, some organizational bins, some shelving…..

That leads me to pegboard.  I’ve never been a fan of it until I recently discovered how “pretty” it can be.  Am I the only one who was clueless about all the new ways to display pegboard?

Okay, fine.  So these aren’t necessarily pretty.  However, I’m secretly in love with them because they’re just so darn organized.  LOVE that.

  How’s this for pretty????ss_100091212

The garden gloves in the box.  Swoon…

I have no idea what I’ll put in this mailbox, but it will be mine.

Not only is the pegboard just delicious, but notice all the cute little accessories that can go with it!  I’m hitting up Ikea in the next couple of weeks to get those little pod bowls below.  If you live close to Ikea, thank the gods.

How ‘bout some pegboard for inside?  I just sat and stared at this for a long time.  See the little tin cans wrapped in craft paper?  Right up my alley.  You’re still staring, too, aren’t you?

Well, much to my husband’s chagrin, I’m off to search for a workbench on Craigslist.  It’ll be a couple of weeks before I  can reveal what I do, but aren’t you just in love with the inspiration?

How cute are those? I never would have thought it! I'm in the process of re-doing my craft room, and had no clue what I was going to do...you just made my day! Now I have some great ideas!

I didn't realize I loved pegboard until just now. I love the white and green one with the little broom (I need one of those too!). You should get that mailbox and have lots of fun with it.

Can't wait to see what you come up with. And we use plethora all the time - from that movie of course - and every time we giggle a little! So funny to hear some one else use it! Have a great day!

I think I would heart IKEA if we had one!

PLETHORA - love that word and have used it several times this week!

Love the organizational ideas. Yea, I thought peg board was down right ugly, but now I can see how to doll it up and it's quite practical!

That green and white checked pegboard would really "pretty up" the garage! (Not sure the hubby would appreciate me using pretty and garage in the same sentence haha) I never considered it for a craft room... but imagine all of the painting possibilities and talk about organization! Thanks for the inspiration...the wheels in my head are starting to turn. ;)

I am lucky enough to live near an IKEA & have those cute little pods, but I use them in my laundry room for loose change, buttons, stain sticks, and even socks that have lost their mate. Love them.

Great ideas! Thanks for sharing! Once we're finished remodeling our home I plan to use mailboxes (not quite like the one you posted) but the more standard kind for an organizational system for our family. For example, when the kids get older they can put things that need to be signed by their parents in my mailbox and things like that. I think that's a super cute idea for mailboxes. Hope you find an idea for yours!

i can't imagine what you are capable of now that you are home for the summer. i mean if you are able to come up with all the plethora of creative ideas like chalk in the kitchen, mud room, neighbor gifts, (did i use it write?) etc...

what will you come up with now that you actually have time to organize? we are faaaar away from organizing tools here but it is a dream i shall live vicariously through you!

that mailbox looks like a very nice place to keep the to do list that will keep all those tools on their toes!!!maybe even put your projects on little pieces of paper and draw one out of the mailbox and let the gods be the ones who decide what gets done. just what comes to my mind!! love the word plethora. especially when it is followed by the word chocolate. not when it is followed by the word work!!

I had pegboard a million years ago, in a college kitchen. I do believe it is time again to use it in a garage. Right now our garage contents are sitting in a warehouse, but just you wait, when we are back in a house, I am stealing your ideas.

I have a craft room that I call my dirty little secret. It is in absolute shambles. This might be just what it needs.

In case you need storage before you can get to Ikea, Target always has little metal buckets in the dollar section that work great too. They change out colors each season so I have different colors for different types of pens or tools.

What cute and crafty pegboard! I'm loving the ribbon on the paper towel holder!

I'm married to a "peg-board junkie." Our garage is so organized that friends and neighbors laugh! I, too, live close to IKEA...life is good!

A few words for you - there are a "plethora" of other things you could use besides those pods - those things look like something you would run into in a mens bathroom in Sweden. Not that I've ever been to Sweden OR in a mens bathroom. I just wanted to ruin those for you with that image in mind. But if you love it... (Doesn't that sounds like classic mom guilt right there?) We have an IKEA 10 min down the road and now when I see those I will think of Swedish men and you. (um...maybe that is a good thing?)Check out Home Depot - not sure what your budget is but I got a fantastic wood craft/work there for $100. But knowing you, I'm sure you'll find something even better, like free or they pay you to take it! And I had that mailbox on the house I grew up in but black. Too funny.

Hope your grandparents are doing okay. That is a hard transition sometimes...

I'm off to IKEA to check out other mens bathroom fixtures now....

I love the pegboards you posted!!! We have pegboards in our garage that are in need of an overhaul but now I am inspired to fix them up instead of trash them. Thanks for the great ideas!!

Hi! Found you on Robin Rane's site. I love your projects and features! That little mailbox reminds me of one I made when I was little. I would put it somewhere in the house and leave notes for mom in there. I'd tell her to check the mail, and then she'd reply and do the same. If you wanted to make a family mailbox, you could make magnets with your family's names in them and put them inside the lid. Just leave the magnet for the recipient on the outside of the box.
