You’re STILL Organizing?

Yes.  I am.  It’s what I call a “lifelong” process.  Remember when I showed you my beautifully organized kitchen cabinets?  Well, just remember that when you see what I’m about to reveal.  Prepare yourself.

IMG_7216

In my defense, I did tell you that not all my cabinets looked that way, remember?  Well, now I’m just one cabinet closer.

IMG_7246

Not too shabby, eh?  I have yet to add my little labels, but I hurriedly took pictures before anyone could breathe on it and mess it up.

IMG_7226

Unfortunately, my organization station was lacking somewhere for me to hang quick reminders or invitations that the kids might receive (for some reason, my kids have a more active social life than we do).

IMG_7259

I had a roll of corkboard and some spray adhesive on hand, and I trimmed away.  Of course, now I have to wait until the weekend for some pretty pushpins.  Hobby Lobby, here I come!

IMG_7237

I bought the white bin (Martha Stewart) at Kmart last year.  The green bins were on clearance at Pottery Barn.  WHY didn’t I buy 10 more of them?

IMG_7254 Well, I’m off to grade papers.  Yup.  Papers.  Ick.

Great job. What is the red book to the left of the yellow. That red and white cook book? I remember my mom had that same book. Tear it brought back memories.

Do you make house calls????
Looks so - organized ;o) I'm envious.

Looks great. It seems like I am always organizing something and then it gets messed up!

How soon can you come here and make my cabinets look like that??
It would be A LOT more fun than grading papers. :)

Looks great! I love the corkboard idea! That's nice!

I wish my cupboards were even a little organized, haha.

They have some awesome and fun push pins at Ballard Designs. I have their European city ones and I LOVE them!!

Nice job! I like the corkboard inside the cabinet door. I keep my cookbooks inside a cabinet like that too. I should get some bins because that's also the cabinet I keep things like the plastic spoon box, extra Excedrins and cold medicines, just a mish-mash of stuff. Maybe I'll go to the dollar store this weekend!

Looks great. What did you do with that big stack of papers on the bottom shelf? Did they get stuffed--I mean reorganized somewhere else? I have some cabinets that look fantastic and others I try to avoid opening. This inspires me to tackle them. Hey, come visit me when you get the chance and ooooo and aaaaahhhh over my boys' bedroom redo :).

Doesn't this just FEEL good--almost like new clothes! I see your Better Homes and Gardens cookbook. After all these years, it is still my "go to" for questions and the first cookbook I gave my daughter. Happy grading!

You are my organizing queen! I love to organize myself, but sometimes I just need some ideas(help). So you are looking for push pins, huh? Well, it so happens that I just posted on my blog some push pins I made. They are so easy to make and cute too. So check it out before you go spending your hard earned money.

Corkboard on the back of a kitchen cabinet?!?! Where do you come up with these wonderfully brilliant ideas? Please, please, please do a tutorial on this one so I don't mess up my cabinets when I attempt to do it myself!

By the way, I have been organizing my only "junk" cabinet and drawer this way for years. It is the only way to go...

Ok I am obsessed with you...i just found your blog and have been spending every spare moment looking at all your projects. I have been looking for a cheap easy wall hanging so I was giddy when I found your scrapbook-paper-covered-styrofoam idea! I ran to hobby lobby this morning and already have them made!

But one question...how did you hang them?

Kelly B said...

How wonderful!! It is very nice to see messy places in your house!! Maybe you should post a few and promise not to organize... so I can get caught up!! ;0) Something so simple can make you feel so very much better!!!

Hi,
Ooohh corkboard just reminded me...
I made a notice board the other day out of a half of an old notice board I found laying around, it only to 15 mins with a bit of paint, ribbon and a glue gun but I think its something you would be very proud of me for lol
I have taken it upon myself to call you my teacher in all things to do with beautifying and organizing my home! I'll stick pictures of it up on my blog soon!

xx

You did a great job arranging your cabinet. Organizing is pretty tough if you don't commit to it. That's a pretty sleek shot.

WHY haven't I thought to use one of my kitchen cabinets as the place to hide our family's clutter?????? I already have a whole shelf of just cookbooks, so it really won't take much to make a little more room and store the rest of that STUFF in there! THANKS for the GREAT idea! (I'm totally doing the corkboard on the door too)

Kim said...

HELP!!

I loved your cork cabinet idea SO MUCH that I ran out to get a roll before the store closed. And then I found some gorgeous push pins!

The problem... is that the cork is so thin that there is no way a push pin will stay in, at all. Are you using a special kind of push pin? Or, how thick is your cork? There was only one thickness at the craft store, but in three different width rolls.

I was so excited and now I'm bummed :O(

This corkboard idea is just what I need in my kitchen. I've got the cabinets organized but the loose paper is killing me. I just saw Cork board yesterday at Tall Mouse (must be a version of Hobby Lobby which IS NOT in my area, sigh....) but I will attempt this project this weekend! BIG THANK YOU!

I love the cork board idea! I'm looking at my kitchen now, the message board crammed with invites & cards, the fridge covered in reminders, charts & art. I think I'm in the market for some cork board!! Thank you!!
