36, Again…

Today (say with echoes) is my birthday day day day day…

I was on Skype with my mom the other day talking about my birthday.  I said, “I can’t believe I’m going to be 37, and she looked at me with confusion (at first, this didn’t seem weird—happens all the time).  She started counting on her fingers ‘cause she’s really good at math like I am.  Turns out I’m only going to be 36.

kitchn

No joke. I just lost a year of my life and didn’t even know it.  I’ve been telling people for the past year that I’m a year older than I AM!  WHO DOES THAT?

Feature Friday will return next week. I’ve got two years’ worth of celebrating to do. :)

Happy, happy birthday!!

I've stopped counting (remembering!) how old I am - and would have to figure it out if asked. My theory - you are as young as you feel!

Have a wonderful double celebration!

I'm several years older than you...but I always say I'm a year older than I am...I have no clue why!! My husband says most women deduct years, but every time I have a birthday, I add a year!! I know...it's crazy!!! Any-who...happy, happy birthday to you...love your blog!!!

Happy Birthday!

When my husband fills out any type of form he has to turn and look at me and say "How old am I again?" Poor thing. :)

Well this year you better cram an extra amount of amazing in, since you skipped one year after all.

Stay fabulous!

Happy Birthday! I turned 31 this summer but I am just going to stop counting now. After the 30 mark I find I am actually having to think about it more 30, 31, 32? SO I just pick one and go with it. :)

Happy Birthday! Mine is actually tomorrow! And congratulations on getting a year back. I promise I started doing something similar. About 6 months ago I started rounding my age up, so when I got close to my birthday I added another year!

My husband has been telling people his wrong birthday until he saw his birth certificate when he went into the military after high school!!! I don't know if it was just the wrong day or the wrong year but his mom kept telling him all his life that his birthday was on a certain day (or born a certain year). Too funny!!! Well, good for you, you're a year younger!!!! Happy birthday and have a great day. Have fun celebrating 36 again.

Lisa@Pickles and Cheese said...

Ha! We are kindred spirits. I am always having to ask my husband...How old am I now??? It's a protective mechanism! Have a very Happy Birthday no matter how old you are!!

Carri said...

Well Happy 36th Birthday again. How many people can honestly say the same age twice in a row and actually be telling the truth the second time. Live it up and enjoy your 36th year of life.

Karen said...

Happy Birthday! I like to tell people I'm 10 years older than I am so they'll gush about how fabulous I look. LOL!

I have been a lurker on your wonderful blog for a long time, but wanted to wish you a very Happy Birthday!!! I've said I was 45 this year, but I won't be 45 until this coming January. I say keep it up...keeps them guessing and who knows, we may have a few extra years at the end!
Have a great day,

Happy Happy Birthday!! I once AGED my oldest sister two years in a checkout line. She said she was turning 46 in two weeks, I said "no, 47". We did the math and she was turning 48! She said she was never shopping with me again. My younger sister is 29 every year (for the 13th time.)

You actually gained a year (instead of loosing a year). Happy Birthday! Most women can't keep up with their real age - so don't feel too bad - but you are the first one that I know of that actually says she's older instead of younger. ;o)

Happy Birthday! We almost share a birthday--mine was yesterday! Although for me, it was #40.
Your story reminded me of my husband...when we were dating, he told me and anyone else that asked that he was 35 years old. Well, he happened to say that in front of his mother while we were looking at old pictures, and as it turned out, she told him, "No, you were born in 1963. You're only 34!" I asked him the same question that you asked: Who does that? :)
I hope your birthday is a great one!

I am a craft blog junky...and I can honestly say that your blog is my favorite! I get all disgruntled when you don't have something new when I check, but then realize that you're a real person, too (though sometimes it doesn't seem that way)!

That is too funny! But don't worry, you are not alone. I remember a long time ago, I used to see Victoria Principal's (She was from the show "Dallas" which is probably before your time.) age in the newspaper. She turned 38 or 39 for 15-20 years. One year she would be 38 in the paper, the next year 39, and then 38 again. It was pretty amazing to do that for twenty years. Maybe you could just be 36 or 37 for a while?

Have a great birthday! Love your blog!

Biscuits 'N Gravy said...

Who does that? Well, I have. How sad is it that after the ripe old age of 30 our birthdays seem to matter so little that we can't even remember what number we're on. I also think it has to do with being busy people and having other more important things on our minds.
Oh, and...Happy Birthday!
