I dropped my camera. That’s going to be my excuse for all the poor pictures that are about to follow. It’s not an excuse, I guess. I did drop it. It is broken. It took me forever to get these, and they’re still not good.
When I painted this hutch, I knew exactly how I wanted to use it. I’ve admitted before to my paper obsession, and this was the perfect space.
The shallow, long drawer was just what I needed for my gift wrap, and since I’m always wrapping on the floor anyway, this was a great set up for me.
I bought the *perfect* magazine basket for all my bags that I end up using because I wait until the last minute to wrap gift bags only to get it home and realize it doesn’t fit where I want it to. Bummer. Guess that’ll go somewhere else.
I decided to use this space for all my teacher/dinner party/secretary/whatever gifts that I like to give. It’s what I will now refer to as my “one-stop-shopping” for last minute surprises that come up.
Everything (and I mean everything) was purchased from one of the following places:
- Michael’s dollar section
- Target’s dollar section
- The Dollar Store
Are you finding a theme here? The present should be of importance, but the gift wrapping shouldn’t break the bank, you know?
Oops. I lied. The cream tray (which didn’t look like that when I bought it) was purchased at Salvation Army for .99 cents
I pulled a selection of my favorite gift wrapping ribbons to have handy. I tend to use solid colored paper so I can incorporate decorative ribbons. However, you always need some white ribbon for something!
Don’t worry. I’ve still got this stash of ribbon, too!
Didn’t I just say that I prefer solid paper? Well, I do. However, I found these two prints yesterday and just couldn’t resist.
Two things--
1. I most definitely regret not painting the inside of the hutch now that I’ve shown it off in this post. However, I don’t really plan on showing it off to my company anytime soon.
2. I don’t expect that everyone has an extra space for this stuff, but if you do… It’s a suggestion!

Great idea! Look how neat and organized you are ~ love it. Just an idea, but you could use some of that paper and ribbon to decorate the inside {maybe double stick tape} so you could change it out on a whim.
This is a great idea. I may have a cabinet for my wrapping, I just had never thought of creating such a nice station! Lovely and functional.
LOVE. I need a good solution for ribbon. I forget what I have cause it's all in a bucket. Not good. This is fantastic!
Love the hutch!! Now I need to find one and a nice spot to put it in!
wow...look at all that fun ribbon!Everyone is loving the hutch(me too) but I love ribbon!!!
in-freaking-genious. Love this idea.
If only *I* could be this organized! The hutch looks great!
i love how you use fabric ribbon to gift wrap..makes such a difference compared to curling ribbon.
the cabinet it great...i must admit...i am just a wee bit jealous! :)
Everything is so fabulous! I ♥ it.
I am just relieved to find that someone else has all of those darling little buckets too. My husband has a cow (well almost) every time one, two or three of those buggers end up in my shopping bag. I shoud show him your blog. Oh wait, I could't he would never understand the time spent salivating over the cuties you have here. Good job being so inventive.
Woe It looks great!!I have an old cupboard downstairs that I can turn into something similar for my balloond decorating business , I could use the hanging space and place extra dowelling rod to hang my curling ribbons. WOW i think this could really work for me!!! Can I ask what is the blue box hold?? Are they birthdate cards??

It's awesome! I'm our last home, I had a 'presents and wrapping' cupboard, but there is no cupboard space in our tiny in-between bought places flat.
I have talked the nusband into us getting a blanket box, as then I can section it off, half for sewing and half for wrapping stuff and gifts.
I do have a small stationery cupboard though!
Love it, I am jealous of all the cute things you have :)
I love it!! GReat use of storage and it's lovely to boot! I have a ribbon collection of sorts and need a really good place to stash it.. what an idea!
Very nice! I have a refurbished dresser in my living room that I've kept my rolls of wrapping paper and gift bags (tons of bags because I "collect" them) in for years. However, it's no where near as organized as yours. Thanks for sharing.
I love the idea of this!
What a perfect idea! No more hauling out to the dining/living room then having to take care of just before you're trying to run out the door with the last minute wrapped gift! Ummm, yeah, I'm there, too!
Have a great week!
Ok...those are some gorgeous giftwrapping papers and bows and such!
Cabinet is perfect for them.
Now I'm hankering for a present...from you!
That's brilliant! I have a lot of closet space I am trying to utilize in a more productive way. Paper storage might be a good idea.
Looking Great! I love this idea. I was just thinking this weekend as I was running around for cards, wrapping and the like that I really need to have a little stash going at home as opposed to the run and panic I do. Thanks for the inspiration.
Ribbon, tin cans, LOVE IT! I would love a cabinet full of my goodies. Instead I am shoving stuff in the man room aka garage! I need to start hunting for a place to call my own! :)
It looks fantastic. And I'm glad you didn't paint the inside of the hutch. Too much work.
It's wonderful! Several years ago I converted an old chest of drawers into a gift-wrapping cabinet, and it's been the best thing. Miine's not as beautiful as yours, but it works! And now that my kids are older, they often want to wrap their own gifts. It's nice that they know that they can get a gift bag and tissue paper any time they need it.
Awesome idea!!! I fall in love with your hutch more and more, every time you show it off!
What fun! Love the organization, and it's great to have so many cute stand-by gifts! :)
you are so cleaver, i need to remember all these tricks when i un bury my self from my remodel
best to yu

Great idea! I like how organized the space is with it all going to one thing--gift-wrapping.
I also think Kathy's idea of switching out the paper is a great one.
This makes me happy! I love anything to do with organizing and this is perfect. Don't worry about the inside of the cabinet. That would have been a mess to paint and no one but you knows that it isn't painted. (except us:) I painted my kitchen cabinets (in another house) and I didn't paint the inside. It was enough to get the outside painted. It looks great. Great job.
I am SO addicted to your blog! you are FANTASTIC! :O)
I am SO addicted to your blog! you are FANTASTIC! :O)
Wow! I love this idea! Was the hutch also a thrifty find, or was it something you already had?
How adorable! Good thinking!
Oh wow! You're a genius! I've been needing a great way to store wrapping paper and this is IT! I have a dresser that is PERFECT for this! Now I just have to find another for my son since I stole his for the living room! :)
Wow!! How cute! What a great idea! I made several of those hand sanitizer bottles that are ready to give as gifts.
Are you going to change this cabinet to a Christmas gift wrapping cabinet in the near future?? Thanks for all your wonderful inspiring ideas!!!
Wow! I am so impressed with your organization! I would love to have a storage place like this. Right now mine is in a closet and not real convenient.
Thanks for sharing the idea.

What a fabulous idea!
I found your blog just this past weekend and I have to tell you I've spent the better part of the morning reading through your archives in my reader.
I am seriously addicted to all your creative ideas!
Thanks so much for sharing them all :)
Drool.......I wish I had a space for all my stuff. I'm so the same way. I have lots of wrapping paper! I always pick it up at Hallmark on clearance or at the dollar store. I pick up cheap gifts to have on hand all the time too! :) One day when I have room, I just might have to steal your idea! :)Thanks for sharing.
Oh my - I want an extra space for all lovely stuff like that!
You are so organised and it must be lovely to receive a gift from you decorated with gorgeous paper and ribbon!
wow. that is beyond impressive!
I love a well orgainized wrapping station.
It makes life a little easier.
You have about as much ribbon as I do. It's Michael's and Target's fault though. :)
Melinda
Can I comee live at your house? I Love everything about your new gift wrap station. One day, when I have a house with more room, I'm going to have to have a place like that!
That is the cutest little hutch. :) It sure beats the plastic bin I have in the attic with Christmas wrapping paper! I love all the pretty colors you've incorporated. Visiting from Kimba's party. :)
LOVE it. SO pretty!!!
Love it! My ribbons are organized in baskets like that hmmm...now I need to get me a hutch! :)
Can you say J-E-A-L-O-U-S!!! It's awesome!
I love this idea. I am redoing my craft studio and have a place for my wrapping paper, but never had thought of putting them in a drawer.
This is SO up my alley! I have a similar station, just in a chest instead of a hutch. I am all about organization, and I think you did a GREAT job!
Great idea! My stuff is crammed in my closet and the rolls standing on end in an old ice cream churn.
wonderful idea, i'm so jealous! i'll have to remember that for when I have alittle more space..blessings and love your blog!
L O V E your wrap storage! That is so awesome! It is so super clever, pretty, and organized. Thanks for the inspiration!
you've got a great blog! I love this wrapping paper storage. I am working on something similar. I did a little blog about yours.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea. I have a similar hutch with empty, yes, empty drawers. They are not deep, but wide so I didn't know what to put in there. Now I do, thanks to you!
