Feature Friday Interruption

I’ve been so nervous about this post that I’ve avoided it for months.  That’s what I do. I avoid.  I’m not a business person.  There are those who are “savvy” and then there are those who are, well, me.  It started a few months ago when I was telling my husband that I needed a new camera.

ourcommunity.com

ourcommunity.com.au

The conversation went as follows:

Me: “I really need a new camera.  Ours sucks.”

Him: “You don’t need a new camera.  It works just fine.”

Me: “Yeah, well, I need better pictures for my blog.”

Him: “Yeah, well, your blog doesn’t earn you any money, does it?”

Woops. He got me on that one.  So…I’ve added advertising on my blog.  Would you like to get the word out about your business, shop, or blog?  Perhaps you know someone who would?

If you’re interested, you can find all the information you need on my “advertise” page.  I’m sure savvy people would go out and get advertising.  Nervous people like me just cross their fingers and hold their breath in hopes of advertising coming their way.

If nothing else, I hope you don’t mind that I interrupted Friday Feature for featuring myself. :)

See you on Monday, right?  I. can’t. wait.

Trying to hint to my husband the same thing for Christmas. And, not surprisingly, he says the same thing! And then I turn it into a Catch-22 by saying "well, if I had a better camera, I might make money from my blog", to which he pretends he doesn't hear me.

You should email Rhoda at Southern hospitality to get some tips on getting some sponsors... I've seen many blogs not nearly as successful as yours with sponsors... Good luck!

That is so exciting. I hope you get lots of sponsors and an awesome camera. I want one bad too !

So, I guess he's making you wait for a camera...hmm... Tell him I don't think that's fair! :-)

I'm SO glad you decided to start offering advertising! Your blog is such a great place to be, and I'm sure you're spots will be filled up in no time!

I'm sure you'll fill up soon. My husband and I own a business and it's hard to advertise our products, much less having to advertise ourselves, in a way. Good luck!

My gosh, you have almost 2,000 followers. I would think with that many people and all your hits you would be making money. I understand what you are saying. I blog just for fun.

I hate my camera. There is a long delay in the shutter and I always miss many pictures. If I do manage to get a shot it is blurry. I saw a camera on QVC and told my husband that I was going to get that for myself for Christmas. I ordered it and am already using it. It is just a little camera and not one of those expensive SLR models.

If I had something to advertise, I would definitely advertise on a great blog like yours with all the traffic. Know what you mean about wanting a new camera but I don't know if this is the best time for us to get one. Hoping you do get lots of advertisers and that camera in turn!

I know it is SO hard to put it out there like that, I felt like a jerk saying that a while back, but I don't know why. I'm sure you will fill up FAST. Good for you!!

I wish you the best of luck with your advertising! You certainly deserve some well earned money with all your entertaining and creative blogging!
I think if all your followers just donated $1 each to your 'camera cause' you'd get yourself one mighty fine camera!

I can sooo relate. I detest this part of it too. However, there does come a time when your long hours account for some kind of return. Hard to live on just the passion of it all. :)

I am new to blogging, but have been following your blog for awhile. I love your writing style and ideas. You are also so generous with sharing new blogs with all of us! Thank you! I think that it would be a privilege to anyone to advertise on your blog. I wish you the best!!

"you spend to much time on it, AND IF it did make you money that would be one thing." I have tried with Google and Blogher... but nothing.. so can you HELP? I am interested. P.S. love the new layout and your furry bowa wreath!

You know what? I don't have anything to sell. But if I did, I would most definitely come here and ask to be one of your advertisers. If I ever come up with something to sell, I'll be contacting you!

Meanwhile, congratulations on taking this step. Your blog rocks!

I need a new camera, too. I feel your pain!

Please - there is nothing to be nervous about? Come on, you are OPRAH. Business deals are in your blood! I wish I had something to advertise. I could use a little something to make $$$ off of right now. But it would be hard to advertise my wedding flowers nationwide.

Girl I have been on your blog for a while, in fact, one of the first blogs I really liked. Advertise, advertise!!!! Easy for me to say, I would do the exact same thing, but I am serious do it.

Carmen @ Life with Sprinkles on Top said...

I love your blog as do so many other wonderful ladies! I'm sure you will have no problem with sponsors! Good luck!
