I’m a Twit!

The time has come.  My friend Beth twisted my arm just long enough to get me on Twitter.  She’s pretty strong, and it was starting to hurt.  What have I gotten myself into?

I’m definitely one of those people who waits outs joining something to make sure it’ll last.  Oh sure, I pegged my pants, I wore neon, and I used Dippity Do in my hair.  However, I always hated New Kids on the Block—that one actually worked out well for me.  So, here I go.

Well, feel free to tell me I’m crazy or tell me its about time I crossed the technology threshold.  Gotta go.  I think I have to tweet something.

I haven't crossed over yet. I already have an addiction to Facebook, email, blogging and little girl's clothes....gotta stop somewhere!

I started to twitter, and then I decided that I just didn't get it!
Blogging and Facebook is about all I can handle.

Can't wait to visit that wonderful website.

I have heard a lot of folks going to Twitter but I am not one of them. Haven't even checked it out. I spend enough time blogging, facebook and emails to get involved.

maybe you will really like it? many people do..i think it's just "for some people" and "not for others" ...i am in the not group...
...i am not even curious about twitter.i tried Facebook..too many people..too much pointless chatter...got out after a few months. but i do love blogging and exchanging emails and talking on the phone with friends and family.

I have an account...have new followers each day (tho my husband tells me they are all scams and spam)...and have never posted. Ever. So you are Waaaay ahead of me.

haha! I'm completely in the same spot right now....trying to decide whether to start twittering or not. Grr. My husband will win the bet if I do though...so that holds me off for right now. ;)

Ok I am right there too! I have an account and have added afew followers, I just don't get it either! I need someone to clarify what it is and why I need someone to know what I did every 10 minutes???? At least on facebook you can feel like when you go to a persons page you are visiting their home. Is twitter like that and I am just missing it??????? HELP!!!

I THINK I joined Twitter but I can't figure out how to work it :) I shall have to consult my teenagers on the intricacies of "tweeting"

Oh my goodess, looks like we need a twitter post! People, twitter is fantastic. You get to have conversations quickly--almost like instant messaging--with a ton of people. You get inside scoops on giveaways, upcoming posts, pics of the process before posts are published. You get to have companies and corporations and sometimes even magazines latch on to what you're saying at chat back at you. There IS a learning curve to it. I felt like the biggest idiot when I first started because I didn't understand the "code". But now....it's all love. Yay Chris! Goooooo Twitter! (Spirit fingers, left herky, back handspring, while we're at it back tuck, candlesticks! And no, I was never a cheerleader. I can barely touch my toes.)

Hey! I loved NKOTB. Still do. :)

Welcome to Twitter. The novelty soon wears off when you realize you can post the same thing on your facebook. :) But I love to use my account for bloggy giveaways. Re-Tweet (RT)? Okay, one more entry to win. :)

soooooooo if you can do the same thing on facebook why have twitter?

Kristin @ My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia said...

Let me know how that goes :) I have an account, but just for updates for our neighborhood. Still just enjoying FB :)

hahahaha!!!!! i am the same way! i never do it until it's stuck around for a year and then i still have to think about it! (i still don't really know what twitter is or how to even find it or begin to do it) i just stick to blogging. still don't really like facebook. only get on there every other month so people know i'm still alive. and it's so nice to finally meet someone else who HATED new kids on the block!!!! i did all the other stuff you mentioned too, but i remember seeing them on tv and thought those girls looked so silly crying over these funny looking boys. i never got it and and still don't.

I only blog. No facebook or twitter. I know my limits. Gotta draw the line somewhere!

Beth@The Stories of A to Z said...

"Why twitter when you can facebook?" I said the EXACT same thing before twittering. And I've been on for awhile now and the novelty is still there.

You can actually link your facebook updates to automatically be posted on twitter, but I don't do this. However, if your blog has a facbook fan page, this might make sense to do. I facebook with my friends and family and those updates are witty banterings about my home life and my 3yr old pooping on the floor. I spare the twitter world from these things. Twitter is used for my bloggy friends only. I mostly tweet about blog posts and projects I'm working on.

The difference between Twitter and Facebook is that you can follow people without having to become "friends" first. Many people follow their favorite celebs on Twitter. Like NKOB for instance. I'm sure Sarah is following Donny as we speak!

Okay, since Twitter isn't paying me here, I'll stop being their spokesperson and simply leave you with this: Don't dis it 'til you tweet it. Does that even make sense?

AmyD said...

Thanks Beth, I am actually on there now. I linked up my blog to twitter using tweeterfeed, but I too use facebook for friends and family, 400+ of them actually and will keep it seperate. I still love facebook as it affords me to keep up with out of town and state people so easily!!! But I am excited about tweeting! I know you are right it is just I havent tried it for long enough. Thanks for the insight!

O.k. so I just joined this too and haven't a clue what I'm doing. Case in point, the other night my 17 year old son was out snowblowing and I thought I was texting him instead, I sent out "kyle...where r u? u need to get home now!" to the entire twitter universe.

Oh no! I may be the only one completely againts Twitter. I don't like it, and personaly hate that we are so vulnerable and available ALL the time. I hate that aspect of technology. But good for you if you like it.
