Fall Without Orange?

Alert****Come back tomorrow for a BIG giveaway****Alert

Some rooms definitely lend themselves better to the warm colors of fall. Some rooms? Yeah, they don’t.

fall basket

Instead of trying to force fall colors into my “lighter” rooms, I decided to roll with it. I “shopped” my fall bins to see what lighter items I had, and this is what I came up with.

It’s still warm, right? It’s still festive, no? My husband came home, saw the frame and asked, “Who’s that in the picture?” I flippantly replied, “ Who cares who they are?” and walked away. That’ll show him for noticing something.

I grabbed all the spray-painted white pumpkins I have and threw them in this basket. Add some pinecones from the backyard, sprinkle with some feather boa and serve!

Stephanie Lynn asked me to make an ornament for her upcoming party, and I started to have heart palpitations. This is what I came up with. I’ll show you the tutorial over at her place next week!   painted birdhouse

I'm right with ya on no orange in my fall decor. I LOVE orange on October 1 but on Nov 1. I can't stand the color. I know many have an aversion to it for Halloween even...but I still like it for Halloween. But when I did my fall mantel....I just couldn't do orange.

So my fall mantel was all silver...dried hydrangeas and white pumpkins.

I love your fall decorations. I laughed about the people you don't know in the frame.

I have a photo of a bunch of old women posing together. I bought it for the turquoise frame...but then loved the photo too. People always ask if they are relatives and think it strange when I say..."No...I don't know them".

I have to say, I just love looking at your pictures. I look first, then read. Is that bad? :)

I think it looks great, and I LOVE that it's a random photo -- made me laugh a little bit. I love orange for early fall, but November is my "gateway" to Christmas (neurotic much?) and I love the gradual transition from orange to something more muted and elegant like gold and cream. Now if only my budget would agree that this is the direction I need to take my Thanksgiving decor... ;)

OMG! I bought a frame with that same family pic in it and when my friend asked "who is that?" I flippantly replied, "my husbands ex, and their daughters." He just looked at me stunned. (My husband and I have been married for 23 years and have a 22 and 20yr old.) Hahaha!!!

I need this! With a new baby on the way and a huge to do list for Christmas a Silhouette would be a life saver!
