My husband's first supportive comment? "That's pretty bright." Grrrr. Then, exactly two days later, we had a huge wind storm. I was afraid the wreath would blow away. Well, duh. I opened the door and the wreath FLEW inside the house, smacked into the chandelier, and shattered into this:
My husband's second supportive comment? "Yeah, I didn't really like that wreath anyway." Say what?????????? Do you SEE how many gerber daisies are on that sucker? My hands had blisters from the wire cutters, and I have two burn marks from the glue gun to show for it! I am currently debating what to do. I'm too angry to fix it right now. Instead, it will sit on my coffee table--that's in my dining room.
I am a high school teacher. Have I told you that? Part of my "revelation process". Early this morning one of my co-workers died unexpectedly, and we were told a couple of minutes before the bell rang. We are all in shock. This was supposed to be her last year. She was months away from retiring. My reminder from this loss? See below.
Here's to you, Bev.

First of all, so sorry to hear about your colleague at work. So sad!
And speaking of sad, your poor wreath! Oh, my, I had to laugh though. That is exactly what my husband would've said. It was so pretty, though. Too bad about the "incident" (too funny, well sad, about it flying in the house and hitting the chandelier!!)
Happy night!
Melissa
I went from laughing to feeling really horrible in about 2.7 seconds. I'm very sorry about your co-worker.
I thought your wreath was pretty... and it looked like a lot of hard work. What do men know anyway? :o)
Sorry, Ladies. You're right. Didn't mean to bring anyone down, but it was on my mind. That being said, I'm still ticked about my wreath!
Oh my goodness! Thank you for commenting on my blog! I really did love seeing that FIRST-EVER comment!... Just wanted to tell you that... now I'm actually going to go check out your blog =)
(I hope that doesn't sound dirty)
So sorry to hear about your co-worker. How sad!
Not equally sad, but sad in a different way - the wreath. Up until last year I had a wedding floral business and for one wedding I made 16 fresh flower pomanders to hang for the ceremony. It took forever to say the least. Only to have a drunk groomsman think it was funny to start hitting them like a pinata. I could be found in the corner crying over that one. So I really do feel your pain!!
So we share the same husband, too! I made a similar wreath for Valentine's, except it was heart-shaped. When the wind blew it across the frozen lawn one morning, my husband was thrilled.
Right now my front door is decorated for April, but I really need to plan something else (you know the whole April showers theme thing...). http://aviewfromthesewer.typepad.com/a_view_from_the_sewer/2008/04/happy.html
So sorry to hear of your friend. It does put life (and wreaths) into perspective doesn't it?
Sorry to hear about your co-worker. How sad, just going to retire too.
Your wreath was very nice. It showed up really good from a distance too. Looks like you put alot of work into it, just to have it destroyed in a matter of seconds. Don't let your husband discourage you. Most men think like that.
