Holy Cow!

Before I say anything else, let me say this: "Keep those ideas coming!!!!!" I know I've moved onto another post, but I am so overwhelmed by your ideas that I would HATE to see them end because I continue posting. Some people have asked if they can still join, and I can't imagine missing anyone's ideas. So...I'll leave the linky thing up as long as you want. This way, people can keep coming back here to check in if need be.

I hope I've made a comment on just about everyone's link. I've tried. Really. What I haven't told you is that my husband had a pretty intense, sports related surgery last Monday. He can't go back to work for 6 weeks. What's that? You have the number of a good divorce lawyer? Things are slowly getting better, but last week...well... Do you ever have the feeling that you are literally going to die from exhaustion? Yeah, that was me.

Anywho...I've been trying to play a little catch up the past couple of days because I've got family coming for Thanksgiving. I didn't think they'd appreciate the glittered witches on the table or Bill in the dining room. I think this looks a little better, eh?

While Bill's been mummified until next year, I most certainly couldn't let my glitter obsession go to the wayside. Hobby Lobby. Glittered trees. Me likey.
And finally (sort of)...for as many different ideas I discussed last week, I decided to go with the gratitude garland. It was just easier than the tree for me right now, and I have the perfect window to hang it from. It's not done by any means, but I thought I'd show you a sneak peak.

Here's what I'm grateful for...

Here's what my husband's grateful for...

Don't let him fool you, ladies. This was after his first "thankful leaf" involved the toilet and him finally getting to use it after his surgery. He'll be so glad I told you that.

And lastly, here's my daughter's...

More to come...

I'm glad you're leaving the link up - I know I'll be checking often. I have a couple more ideas that I've been meaning to take photos of and add. Homemade gifts are my favorite thing! This was such a great idea.

Love the garland. I've been meaning to get one up as well.

Hope your husband gets well soon!

Bless your heart! My DH had surgery not long after we were married. (16 years ago, WOW that long.) He is not a good patient. In fact, one day I doped him up, strapped him in the car with a pillow between him and the seat belt, took him to the office and left him for someone else to deal with. LOL!

But, I have had 3 major surgeries since. :-) I am a princess patient. I just want to be left alone.

I like your garland. Have a good evening!

Oooohhh! Love me some glitter trees. I was just at H.L. tonight and did not see those. Note to self : spend more time at Hobby Lobby because apparently the 2 hours I spent in there tonight was not enough!

p.s. I'm copying the thankful garland! And I'm right there with ya...keep those fab ideas coming!

My condolences on the hubbies surgery :) Love the glitter as well. You should work here where 100,000 poinsettias go out with glitter!

Hobby Lobby...just one of the things I miss, especially this time of the year! Ok, so I miss my family a bit more, but I sure could go for a few hours in a Hobby Lobby! :) Thanks for the great ideas!

Love the leaves, Chris. Where did you find them? Surely you didn't hand cut each one out?? I've been wanting to make one of these, just am not really into the holidays this year.

I love your thankful garland!

I wanted to tell you, about 4+ years ago my dh broke BOTH wrists and had to have 2 surgeries and was unable to use both arms for several weeks - well, you can just imagine what all he couldn't do for himself (think bathing and bathroom besides eating). It was a rough several weeks, and even though he was ornery to me sometimes, he still brags to people about how much I must love him to have taken care of him like I did, and put up with him! LOL

I hope your dh recovers quickly and things get back to normal real soon - years from now it will just be a memory.........that made you stronger!

Deepest regards!! My husband just went back to work after a accident at work almost SIX LONG years ago, so I can totally relate to the "whole needing a divorce lawyer" thing. After 17 surgeries (and he still need two more!!)and having to play nurse each time to the WORST patient in the world, it is a wonder we aren't divorced!! LOL!! Hang in there...it WILL get better!! TRUST ME!!!

Hey Chris,

I have some of those glitter trees that I stuff Christmas lights in. If you get the lights with the brown cord you can't see the strand through the spaces in the gold trees. They give off a nice glow. Lovin the glitter pumpkins!

Hi Chris,
We have a bookclub blog and were so curious about getting the Jane Austen button you have on your left sidebar...but when we go to that site, we can't find an embed code. Can you help? Thanks so much.

It may take me a couple days...but I can't wait to add my two cents. It was and is such a great idea! Thanks again Chris!

I love how you put stuff inside the glassware and I love the gold glittery trees! But my fave thing you've shown here is the garland. I'm all about preserving memories and this is a really cool thing. I'm a scrapbooker, so after the holiday I would put them all together in a scrapbook. Maybe make one every year and see how they change. Looks like you might have even used some scrapbooking paper on that one leaf of yours. And your husband's totally cracked me up! Although your description of his first leaf was hilarious! Maybe you should have kept that one just to make people laugh when they read it! LOL

Oh I love the glittery pumpkins! You need to go to www.violetskiles.blogsot.com and look at her PUMPKIN TOPPERS she came up with!! They are too cute, and you can put them away when Thanksgiving is over and use them next year! After reading your blog I am feeling the urge to glitter something...now what can I get my hands on around here??

I'm glad I found your blog...it's great! I feel for you with the husband's injury. Mine just had knee surgery for a torn ACL this week, so he's been laid up in bed for several days. It's a little taste of being a single mom for awhile :-).

Oh - those are sweet! I like the leaves. I can understand where you didn't even want to TRY and copy our cool turkeys. They are hard to top. :)

Sarah said...

I love your garland! If you wouldn't mind sharing where you got the leaves? You didn't cut them out yourself did you?

LMAO! Oh you make me LAUGH! I know, I know...I beginning to sound like a broken record here. :o) I sure hope your husband is okay...ye-ouch!
