My front door needs some "pop". Therefore, my front door wreaths are pretty...uhh...bold to say the least. Solid colors work best. Remember the dramatic demise of this baby? Well, I do. I'm still not over it.
I've been lucky with my Ms. Christmas wreath. She was pretty beat up when I found her (as are all my decorations), but I've been giving her extra special attention with a new coat of glossy, red paint every year! There you go. I've exposed my secret!I saw an inspiration picture in Lowe's Creative Magazine a while ago for a winter wreath. "Winter wreath..." I thought to myself. Perfect! I started out with a plain wreath I had around the house, and I spray painted it. Then, I sprayed texture paint on it (like a popcorn ceiling paint) to make it look snowy. Keep in mind, it's -2 here right now, so this was done in my unfinished basement. NOT a good idea.
I painted some spare apples and pinecones....
and here's the end result!

Love that. Wish we had snow. Wish we had winter.
That is SOO perfect for your snowy abode! i LOVE that idea!
It would sooooo not work here.
It is perfection!
Very wintery. Looks great. Mimi
I really like how your winter wreath turned out!
Oooooo! I love it! Would you hang it up in sunny California? Would the neighbors think I was nuts if I hung it up in sunny California? I might have to take my chances....
Oh my gosh...that s the cutest! If I had time tomorrow, I would add it to my "to do" list...but no such luck...maybe soon though! Thanks for the great idea!! :)
How do you survive -2???? I would be a solid block of ice! I'd never leave for work! Your wreaths are both pretty!
I love your wreath I am going to copy if I can still find a wreath to use. I don't want to use ones I use for christmas since they all match and I may not get lucky enough to find a match again. We are getting ready to have an open house and was wondering what to do with my door after I take the christmas wreath down and this is it. Thanks so much for your great ideas.
Not bad at all my friend!!! Love the all white look. Happy New Year and stay warm!!
Love it! So simple to do from the looks of it....my problem is we never have winter down here in Middle Georgia...right now the temps have been in the lower 70's not what I say winter is suppose to be but rather be that than -2 like you.
So tell me got any ideas for a wreath for Valentines that I could do for ummm warm weather?
It's really beautiful. love your front porch!
My naked front door thanks you :)
Sooooo lovely! What a classy way to dress up your front door and welcome visitors.
It is beautiful!!
Oh goodness!!! Your wreath ROCKS!! I am SO doing that TONIGHT! I have my red bead stick thing still on the door!
Thanks for the comment the other day!! That was so sweet :)
Love your blog!!
I love it! You have the best ideas. :)
I am completely stealing that idea.. Love it!
I love this idea!! What color did you use to paint it? At first I thought you used silver paint...but then I thought it may be white.
Gorgeous wreath!!! I love that "snowy" look on so many things but I think it would look silly on my door... everything else is green (or brown) and we are practically in shorts. lol
Oh, so pretty. I wish you had posted this last Friday...it is 28 here today (a heat wave for you) and I have a wreath that needs a facelift. Saturday was over 70 - Missouri is like that summer weather one day and three feet of snow the next - it keeps this California girl on her toes! I am a daisy freak so I love that one as well. I have bookmarked this inspiration - now what did that weather guy say?

Pretty. I like the silver pop on the black door!
Very nice. When I look at it, it reminds me of winter. All full of snow. I'm sure they can see this one from the road. Great Job!!
Very beautiful..looks great against your door!
UNBELIEVABLE!! Your blog is awesome! NIIIIIICE.
Found your blog thru Lisa's at Abiding There, but had seen your comments in many other places. Seems we are in the same bloggy circles. We registered to be followers. Enjoyed stopping by very much and hope that you will pop in and visit us as well. Maybe you might even follow us. Let us know if so and we can swap buttons or something.
Have a great day!
God Bless.
I was just about to pack away all of my Christmas decor, but I will have to make this wreath first, its perfect for winterizing your home. Thanks for the tutorial.
I love that its monochromatic. And I love your front entrance area. I really want to paint my front door black, but I will have to wait until we have warmer weather.
Fabulous! I was just thinking how sad my front door looks now that I've taken down the Christmas wreath!
I'm in awe. You are so incredibly inspiring and creative it's amazing! I liked your last post on winter decor as well. So classy and creative!
really cute! I love that you are decorating for winter. There is so much opportunity with those gorgeous whites and light blues!
I am inspired!
Oh my, BOTH of those wreaths are gorgeous. I'm sad the gerber wreath is missing, it was amazing-- good luck with the winter wreath :)
NICE! I have a few extra wreaths laying around that I could paint. Great idea!
This is going in the "to do" pile. Yes, it is.
FAB_U_LOUS!!!! I lurve it!
It looks great!! It really does look like a winter wreath!
Icy. Cool. Gorgeous. So, glad you said that it wasn't a good idea to paint in the basement. I had planned on using my laundry room...since it's frigid here and going outside isn't something that one voluntarliy does.
Love it, love it...as with all of your ideas!
Love the gorgeous wreath. You are so creative and talented!!
This is awesome! Absolutely beautiful.
I love that. I tried having that Lowes decorating idea book sent to me, but haven't gotten it yet. I tried online twice, to have them send it to me.
So flippin cute I can't believe it. This is one of my favorite projects so far. Thanks inspiring us and sharing!
That is so dadgum cute!!!
wow very pretty, can I steal a bit of your fabulous creativeness?!
I love it! I wish I would've seen this sooner, now the xmas is over I've put anything remotely xmas-y away!
I love both of them...gorgeous!
Chris,
I love that wreath. It looks like it would be very expensive. You were very creative.
beautiful. 'nuf said.
Absolutely beautiful.. very simple and elegant!!
Dare to be bold right! I love it!
I am in love with that wreath! I love those daisies. I have been looking at all your old posts with the projects, does your brain hurt? You have the CUTEST ideas.
I LOVE it! I would never think to hang a wreath on my door except during Christmas. I might try something like this :)
And she spray painted it RED...GaH! How simple, I never would have guessed! I love the winter one too!
Hi! I'm Elizabeth over at Grand Occasions. I'm new to the blogging world and am enjoying it immensely. I love your wreaths, especially the white one. What a great idea. My front door is currently white, but hopefully will be black by the end of the weekend. I'll definately be using your white spray paint idea next Christmas. Please, stop by and visit me sometime.
OK Chris. I had to tell you that I finally got the chance to make this! I loved your idea so much... I waited and waited until the Christmas decor was down to whip this puppy up.
Put a link back to your project too of course. Hope Disneyland was fun!
