Goodbye, everything

My computer? Dead. My hard drive? Not backed up. My bank account? Empty. It died on Saturday, March 14th at 9:39 AM.

Don't panic. I have a new one, and now I'm broke. Many other plans just took a backseat. Very, very frustrated. So.....I'll be back.

I'll check in tomorrow. Until then, this whole laptop thing is tricky. Somehow, I can no longer type. RAR!!!! Stay tuned!

Right there with you - our power went out this morning and everything came back on 10 minutes later EXCEPT for my PC. Hubby is currently working to diagnose the problem. Hopefully it's just the power supply. I feel like my arm has been lopped off.

Oh my gosh that is awful!

Oh no! I cant even think about it without panicing a little. Sorry to hear that it happened :(

Yep, it does take a while to get used to a laptop.

I'm glad you got another one, but I hate that your decorating plans have been put on hold.

Oh well, your plans won't be on hold forever.

I am so sorry to hear about your computer. That is horrible. Hoping it will all fall into place sooner than later.
Blessings,
Linda

The best thing about a laptop is being able to blog while in bed or laying on the sofa - you'll get use to it!

You'll looooove a laptop!! But that sucks about losing everything. I'm SO afraid that's going to happen to ours -- need to work on that.

Bless your heart! Hang in there. Wait until you get used to your laptop...you will love it!

I just went through the exact same thing right at Christmas time. I thought I was going to lose my mind!

Hang in there!

Oh no!! I am so so sorry. :(

I have a suggestion for any of you that are worried about losing everything.

I pay $7 a month for my own website from
Blue Host

I have unlimited space, so I not only run an online store and a couple of blogs on it, but I back up my computer too. All my pictures, my documents. And the best thing is that I can access my backups from ANYWHERE! And they back up nightly too! So there is a backup to my backup!

Sorry to hear about your computer. I need to take the time to back up my hard drive. Glad you were able to afford a new computer right away, i' sure your writing will flow just as well on your new keypad. Take care.

Yuck! That just happened to one of my friends. So sorry

Alright, I'm gonna let this out there. I'm pretty sure our relationship is ready for it.

I dont think I know how to put my email on there? I know right. I'm embarrassed.

So... now that it's awkward and all... How and where do I do it? You can email the directions to me...

Hahaha.. I know I'm hilarious. No really you should tell me..

Rachelle said...

*Sigh* Never-mind. I'm stupid.

And, no.. computers aren't my thing ;)

I promise I'll quit the manic comment posting.

I've been there and it $ucks big time. I feel your pain.

I feel your pain, our desktop is toast right now, we're having a tech person come out and see if they can do anything tomorrow. Hoping we don't lose everything!

Oprah - if you only had paid me a little bit more at the magazine I could've helped you out in your time of need!

So sad!!! I type like a homeless blogger on a laptop. You've seen it, it's not pretty. So I understand.

You know my Dan is a computer GENIUS, right? Anyway I could offer up his help? You've got my email - let me know. In exchange I want the house in Santa Barbara.

Awwww, so sorry!! I agree you'll LOVE a laptop. The keyboard is trickier. I had to get used to it. But you can be lazier & more comfortable. {And warmer with it on your lap!} :)

That totally sucks though about unsaved things. My hard drive crashed on a computer a few years ago, and even my super smart professional geek cousin couldn't retrieve EVERY picture I had of Maddison in her first year of life. I'm still broke up about it. :( Back up, back up, back up. {Now, I need to take that advice!}

Ugh! That really stinks! :(

That said, I love my new laptop. I can put it anywhere and do whatever I need to do and still check the net once in awhile. It's fun!

Linda@ Lime in the Coconut said...

Yeah....but just wait until you are lying in bed, propped by pillows and typing away. You'll love the laptop thing then!!

I agree with everyone else, you will love your laptop soon. My laptop is on its last leg so I will be feeling your pain soon!

Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss.
Be sure to take time to grieve, you know, the demise of your bank account. :) I know the feeling, OH SO WELL.
On the bright side, you'll eventually get used to typing on a laptop!

Ohhh, so sorry! About two years ago, mine got fried (lightning strike or something) and I could not do one thing. It's a very helpless feeling. I now use Carbonite to save all my stuff on there. A good piece of mind, I tell you!

Hang in there...

So sorry! We too just had to replace one of our computers...took the vacation money we were hoping to go on. It is so frustrating!! I hear you on the laptop...I feel lost when I don't have a mouse to work with...and the keys just seem so much smaller. I hope your day and week get better.
