Hmmm…can you tell what this post is going to be about? Some of you have been reveling in your new spring blooms, but it’s just barely happening for us up in Michigan. See all those snarly looking shrubs along the garage? Those should be beautiful blooms of Korean lilacs, but they still haven’t opened up.
However, this is a good opportunity to let you know my next outdoor project.
I’ve got some windows on my garage that are just begging to be dressed up! (Of course, some trimmed shrubs might help that begging just a little!)
Prepare yourselves for a grand tour of some beautiful window boxes! Sit back and enjoy!
Some advice on window boxes? NEVER go too small. The bigger arrangement, the better. If your house sits off the road (as mine does), you’re going to want it to make a statement.
The one below is my absolute favorite. How can you look at this picture and not feel a smile come on?
Last, but certainly not least…
Once our weather finally gets a little more consistent, I’ll be off to the store for window boxes and flowers! My mom lives a few minutes away from a Smith and Hawken outlet store (I know—must be nice), so hopefully I’ll score something there!

I saw your blog on someone's blog roll and being intrigued by the name of your blog (as it reminded me of Notting Hill),I stopped over. I love your window boxes and that last picture is stunning.
Thanks for sharing!
Simply fantastic-- I am heading out to get my simple flowers for my porch tomorrow! I will (she says to her self with conviction) I will...will will will get this project done!!
Thanks for the inspiration!

Im going to link your blog to mine if thats ok?
I absolutely love those white window boxes & the flowers in the 2nd to the last picture!! You should definitely do some like those.
Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful... and I did't laugh once.
Good luck with your project! Can't wait to see them.
Window boxes are on our to-do list also, but I am so wishy-washy about what I want. We need two on the side of the house, where we enter and the trim of our home is black; but, I wonder about heat with the black. Then again, I plan to really fill them up, as you said, so they could be white. Are you going with wood or plastic? Wood with a plastic insert?
Thanks!
Daryl
I love window boxes as well, and I also live in Michigan so I totally understand the whole weather thing. Beautiful pics.
Those pictures are beautiful! The exterior of our house has the same basic structure as yours and I'm dying for some window boxes on the garage windows.
Can't wait to see what you find a S&H. I've been looking too but so far haven't found anything that I love.
Kimba
One more thing...
If you happen to see a couple of these at S&H, be sure to pick them up for me. ;-)

I've got my window boxes planted (on Mother's Day!).

(the photos of the boxes are in the middle of the post and you'll have to keep in mind they're freshly planted...it'll take them a few weeks to get going).
I asked hubby to make me boxes for the upper windows for Mother's Day and so far no go. :(
Great inspirations! I have a window box, I jusg need to get some things planted!
Thanks so much for the inspiration pictures! I currently just have one window box, on my shed. It is small, but I love it! And our shed is painted to match our house, and it faces the road so I enjoy making the window box look pretty!
This weather is definitely playing with my emotions. Yesterday I wore a coat, and jeans.
It's almost June. Ridiculous.
We'll probably get the good weather around August, just in time for it to be fall again! ;)
Oh wow, that last's house's window boxes are gorgeous!!! I'm totally wanting some now.
Beautiful! Thanks for the show!
Love those beautiful window boxes! I can also see a huge barn star or ginormous grapevine wreath at the top of that garage.
love, love, love the window boxes!!
we also need some on our house
so i will be watching
to see what you come up with
:O)
Beautiful pics...nothing is more inviting in summer than pretty window boxes!
Pretty pretty! I do hope spring is heading your way real soon. We had a cool day yesterday and I started to break out the jackets again. Crazy weather~
Thanks for the "eye candy". I'm just heading out today to purchase some flowers for a window box.
Wonderful inspiration! Living in the city all I can really do are window boxes and I have 11 to fill so this is great. Impatiens seem to be the only thing I have any luck with. Can't wait to see what you do with yours!
So pretty, cheerful, and summery! Can't wait to see yours!
I always love to see what mixes people put in window boxes. Can't wait to see yours.
I love window boxes, too. They're on our "to do" list. I grew up in MI and all my family is still there. I know what you mean about flowers/ bushes blooming much later than other places. It makes them that much sweeter when they do bloom. Good luck to you and your windows!
Pam
I really like the second one. I have window boxes on the back of my house and they are full of weeds. I need to get inspired by you.
Your right window boxes would be WONDERFUL. You sure do know how to pick inspiration photos too. Happy windowbox shopping, can't wait to see your finished product.
I love window boxes!! I'm going to have to think about where I could put one! :)
Very pretty ideas!
Your home is beautiful and will look great with them as well. :)
That will look gorgeous. I'm so inspired right now!!

The pictures are stunning....agree with everyone. I am working on getting my garden into shape. Anyone care to look or see my gardening series feel free to browse. www.savingmoney101.blogspot.com
My luck I would spend all that money to get those beautiful flowers and kill them. lol
I desperately want window boxes, but my husband says it will ruin the siding when I water. I would do anything to convince him otherwise. I can't wait to see what you do.

wow, beautiful house. Window boxes are so going to look wonderful there. Thanks for the tips to go bigger.
Love the other photos too. My favourite boxes have to be the 2nd to last photo. Gorgeous!
Thanks so much for posting this...I just decided this week I need some window boxes, and this gave me some great ideas.
Now just to get my hubby on board. I have the ideas, but he has to do all the work.
Completely beautiful. Reminds me of the time I spent in Europe - such a common thing to see beautiful window boxes. So pretty.
I {HEART} window boxes!
Chris, in the picture (third down from the top) is that writing I see by the window? Like graffiti?
The window boxes are just beautiful, I am sure whatever you decide to do will be just lovely. You have such great taste.
Love all your window boxes. I have a special attraction to the boxes, also.
I love the one's on older houses like in Italy where they use those deep, bright
colors like royal blue and even purple.
You blog is very attractive......... I love that all the colors lend so beautifully.
I have wondered about your font ? Did you get it from blogger, or your font list ? To me it make a blog look even better. I haven't a clue how to move one over, though. Do you have any tips ?
Stop and visit anytime ~~ I love to chat about our mutual interest, our blogging.
Oh, now I would just DIE to have those white flower boxes (second to last photo) on my house. I love everything about them. Ohhh, I live in an apartment and it's not doable. LOL! Hmmm...maybe there is a way to photoshop them onto my former home:)
Can't wait to see yours!
I like the last one. The shrubs look so uniform that they are so easy to look at. And very colorful too. Thanks for sharing these photos! :)
