Nester’s having a “Price My Space” party. To see all the rules, go visit her site. I’m joining in because I love to know where people buy or find things for their home. Sure, I’m curious about how much things are, but I mostly need some validation that I’m normal to find my home decor at every place under the sun!
I’m not really sure how this is supposed to be set up, but I numbered things because I think that’s cool.
1. The leather chair is not top quality by any means, but it’s also not bottom of the barrel. We bought it for $500.00 at a large furniture store. It has held it’s own against a family of four and a dog who lays against it all day.
2. I truly don’t remember how much the couch and loveseat were, but (again) a large furniture store came in handy here. They are Bassett pieces, and they’ve held up well.
3. The curtains! My favorite purchase because I only spent $15.00 at TJMaxx. The trim was at Hobby Lobby, for like, $7.00.
4. This armoire (and the two tables) is made by Riverside Furniture. I LOVE their furniture, and I recommend it. Again…don’t remember the price, but I would never spend that much money now. Armoires just don’t need to cost that much, in my opinion.
5. Okay. I included the carpet. I’ve had a lot of people ask about it, so why not? It cost us $850. for this room. Way more than I wanted to spend, but I was VERY selective because I spend the entire winter planted right where the #5 is in the picture.
6. My favorite lamp. $17.00. Wait…$19.00? Something like that at Hobby Lobby.
7. My favorite lamp. Yes, I know I just said that. $12.00 at Big Lots, but I bought some green houndstooth fabric to re-cover it. It was like, $4.00.
1. This mirror was made for me. I wish the picture could show the details of the frame, but it’s just delightful. AND it goes so well with my room. It was $200 at Hobby Lobby, but I only spent $100.
2. I bought these sticks at Ikea for $14.00. The vase at Ikea to hold them was $40.00, but I held out and found mine at TJMaxx for $9.99.
3. The “table” is a Smith and Hawken planter. I put a round piece of glass on it, and called it good. It was $40.00.
My mantle is ever-changing, but here it is in its current state.
1. I’m in LOVE with lanterns right now. I can’t get enough of them! The big one was on clearance for $10.00 at Marshalls, and I splurged on the little one and spent $16.00 several weeks ago at TJMaxx. It really is all about timing when it comes to getting good deals. I almost spent $25 on the big one!
2. Okay. I spent some money on the art. I think the big tulip was, like, $30.00 or so. However, my frames were cheap, cheap, cheap! The big one was about $13.00 on clearance at Hobby Lobby. I had them add some glass, and voila!
3. I’m proud of the candlesticks, because Pottery Barn was offering them for about $70.00. I know this because my friend bought them, and was SO disgusted when she saw that I got them at Kohls for $19.99.
4. Lastly, my newest purchase is the tealight candle holder. $7.00 at Ikea. I LOVE how it looks at night.
I highly doubt that you’re still reading at this point, but here’s my advice. Buy a couple of solid, quality pieces for your room. I knew the furniture was going to have to be good. We spend 97% of our time in that room. However, you don’t have to break the bank to accessorize a room. This, in my opinion, is where you can be a LOT more selective about what you spend. Plus, it’s really fun when you get a good deal!!

Wow - you did really good, numbering and everything! I'm still trying to figure out if I can remember what stuff cost in just one room so that I can join in.
Perfect...a good eye. Resourcefulness.
Priceless.
Very pretty room, love the big mirror!
I really like how you've made the analogy to how women dress. You're supposed to spend real money on the quality basic pieces (like you're saying with the major furniture), and then spend less on the accessories. It's the way you can show your personality but change your mind whenever you want.
Very beautiful room!
Love it all! So cozy, comfy, warm and inviting! We got our couches and leather chairs at Basset, too, and they've held up great!
Happy week ahead hugs~ Les
p.s. I love the numbers! Great idea to showcase the room girl!
I'm a new reader, but I love your blog!
Can you update this post to include where those lanterns are from? Love them!

Love your mantel with the layer of photos and the very cool lanterns. Everything looks great! Wish I had figured out how to number the photos on mine. It looks so profesh. :-)
Wow! I love everything and you did such a great job. I am extremely impressed with the numbering and the fact that you know how much you spent on everything.
Love it! Thanks for sharing and my favorite is the mantel!
Love the layering on your mantel, the lanterns, and your creative end table w/cool lamp w/drum shade. Oh--love the big mirror too. Looks like a room where the whole family can really relax and enjoy time together.

Cute room..I love your planter/table
Obviously I love the whole room.
I tell you that almost every time I comment. It's getting ridiculous ;)
I'm still reading. :) I like the lanterns a lot! I can see how you'd be hooked on them. I'm visiting from The Nester's party. :)
What a beautiful, cozy living room. I love it and understand why you spend so much time in there! :)
The carpet is gorgeous, and something we're looking for right now for our house. I'm going to have a hard time forking over the dough, but you can't buy carpet at the Goodwill! :)
First time reading your blog from the Space Party tonight....love your ideas! I am in the process of purchasing new carpet. Will you share the manufacturer/color please? I love it! Thanks so much!
Beautiful room! I love how you explained the best way to spend your money when furnishing your home. Thanks for the tour!!! God's blessings, Sarah :D
Love your room! So classic and clean and liveable.
Your room is so fresh and airy. I love it! Those lanterns are great. I bought similar ones from Pottery Barn not long ago for muuuuuuuch more.
Great job!
Thanks for the number, prices & vendors. Plus the room looks great. Keep those pics coming! Love them...JustaFarmGurl
I love how clean and fresh everything looks. Your mantle looks great. I agree about spending more on a few substantial pieces. I bought my couch and loveseat about a year and a half ago for just over $1,000 for both pieces and it's not holding up that well. Live and learn I guess.
Cute room!! Love the way it looks very simple, yet elegant!
Looks like a comfortable room for you and your family. But it is still very attractive!! Love the way you stacked your framed art on the fireplace mantle. Excellent idea! Planter table is wonderful.
I like it. It's nice and uncluttered but at the same time it looks like you live there :)
I love your mantle! Thanks for breaking it down and all the steals and deals you got! Your room is very easy on the eye!
Its adorable.....I love the white mantle and everything on it!!! :)
BEAUTIFUL!! thats all I have to say! :)
Your room is beautiful and I love how you turned the planter into a side table! Great texture and color and one of a kind:>)

LOVE the planter/table! I may have to steal that idea!
My house is also always ever-evolving. You did a good job and got some great buys. You have to spend your money where you're going to really use it. Your mantel is showpiece quality! I love your arrangements on it. You did good, hon. Makes me kind of blanch at what I've spent on stuff!
Brenda
This is a wonderfully creative room!
The mantle is beautiful and I love the planter table!
Mmmm. I like this room so much. I think you did a great job placing the furniture so that you can have both a fireplace and an armoire holding the TV.
Your room looks great as it is--nice and light and bright. But I can also picture it all nice and cozy on a winter evening.
hello there. I just discovered your blog today and I think it is fantastic. Love the room as well - very clean yet functional. Nice work and I look forward to reading more. Cheers!
Hi,
my fav is the mantel, it's wonderful. Love the prints you have and the lanterns as well. I also have the IKEA tea light holder and love it.
Great looking room and great finds.
I really love the color you have on the walls. Do you at all recall what it was called? And, the jpeg doesn't do it justice, but it looks both green AND grey...it is really a lovely room!
Abbie
What a comfy room. I love the lanterns. And of course the numbers were a cool touch.
Beautiful, classic, comfy room. You did a great job!
Love your room! It's very serene. :)
I love how you accessorize without cluttering a room unnecessarily. I love your lamp choices!
Kay Miller Designs! I love her stuff!
Very nice space. So inviting!
Beautiful. It looks so comfortable and inviting.
I did the same thing, I spent money on my couch, chair and entertainment unit. The rest I bought out of the back of a truck from N.C. outlet (I don't know if it was stolen or what, but they drove onto my street and we climbed in the back and bought stuff!). I accessorized from every place like TJ Maxx and Marshall's and Tuesday Morning.
You have such a nice comfy neutral living room. Very peaceful. I love those couches, they look so soft and velvety in the photos. :)
Fabulous room! I especially love your mantel. The way you arranged the artwork and candles inspired me! I'm looking for ideas for my mantel. Thank you for sharing!
Blessings,
Marie

Gorgeous room! I agree with spending some money on a few good pieces. You always get your money's worth with the quality.
Wow, you really took the time numbering and remembering where, why, and how much you bought (or how you got) your furniture. You must love your readers so much. Aww... we love you too! :)
I also LOVE the wall color! Would you please, please share the name? I am ready to paint my living room walls and this color is PERFECT!!! The entire room looks fantastic. Thanks!

Just returned from vacation to check out the $pace Party! Awesome mirror. Great advice about the big pieces and yes, I was still reading at that point :) I like how you used the numbers, hmmm, now if only I can figure out how you did it.
Where did you find the artwork above the mantel? It's beautiful!
