Progress

With my iron in hand, I attacked the table. You ladies sure know what you're talking about. I laid a thin hand towel over it because...well, I don't know why...it just seemed like a good idea. I let the iron sit on there for a bit, then slid a spackling blade under there.
Voila! Ugly laminate be gone! It's a little shabby on top. The wood is split, but that's ok. It's exactly how I want it. If I need it for a more formal project in the future, I'll just cover it. For now, I'm in love.
Meanwhile...I bought this (heavy) plaque last month for $1.99. Price is right, eh? Color? Not so much.

Sing, birdies, sing! They're basking in the sun here. Either that or they're screaming for someone to get them out of that plaque.
Nothing like a black china cabinet and the sun setting to make you realize how badly you need to dust. Don't look too close!

The one above looks a little yellow. I had to use the flash, but this gives you a better idea for the color.

Maybe if I'm lucky, this springy plaque will bring some springy weather!

I'm wondering where you live to get these fabulous prices! I'm in N. California and the thrift stores are so overpriced. That table of yours would have been at least $40 here...probably more.

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you I have that exact bird plaque and have never hung it because I didn't care for the terracotta. I didn't know you could paint it. I might try that.

Love these!!

We are re-doing the kids bathroom in western/cowboy stuff and I have a heavy metal thingy to hang on the wall. But, we did a treatment on the walls to make it look like leather...and the metal thingy now blends in and you can't even see it! So, I was thinking of painting it but didn't know if it would work....now I know it will!!

Thanks for sharing!!

The table looks great! You did a great job. BTW I could not see a speck of dust! You need to come to my house...I'll show you some dust on my black furniture. That is the only thing that bothers me about my black furniture...it does show the dust...but not enough to make me get rid of my black furniture. I do love it so!

Great job Chris! Knew you could tackle that one. Looks soooo much nicer without the lamanete. Where did you find the $1.99 birdie plaque????? Why can't I find those things. How cute it turned out. Guess I need to get my shopping shoes on and get out there huh?

The birds are perfectly 'rubbed'. Once you spray painted, how did you distress it?? Looks great! :)

Anything with birds is such a welcome sight this time of year! And I didn't notice your dust; maybe that's because I am used to it around my house.

Sigh. I never find cute gorgeous little side table things at my goodwill (or a long bench for my kitchen table which is what I'm currently hunting for). I did find a cute grey suit (4.95), a white candle holder ($1), and a grey-ish plate ($1)... maybe I need a post about my finds.

I found your blog a little while ago and I am really enjoying it.

What is the name of the color in your bathroom w/the little table? I am using a similar color but I think I like your shade better.

Thanks for all of the inspiration!

Good morning Chris! Thanks for stopping by my blog which in turn, lead me to yours!

The wall color in my dining room is called Antique White (by BM or SW - can't remember which one). When it first goes on it looks VERY WHITE but never fear, it does darken up to a soft white with a little yellowish hue. The paint I used on my picture molding, trim and under the chair railing is Pearl White, a custom mix (I think). If you want, I can give you the formula for it if you'll let me know.

We put up the roman shade last night but no window treatments yet, probably going to go with faux-silk panels in a cream as suggested by several folks. Also, Joni at Cote de Texas has given me some good ideas.

Hoping to get my shelves up tonight so I can finish putting all my cremeware on them.

Hugs!
Judy
