Do you remember how my idea to change this….
led to this………?
Well, I’m inches away from being done! So until the whole room is ready, I thought I would show you one way I saved some money. I went thrifting a couple of weeks ago in search of a big, ornate frame. Well, I found this for $9.99.
I wish I could more clearly exhibit it’s tacky finish. It’s a silver/gold plastic-y look. You with me? Well, I bought some of this in Antique Gold and…well...rubbed and buffed.
I got it to look muuuuuch better. Me likey. Then, I found some old sheet music for .25 cents, rubbed some coffee on them, let them dry, and framed.
Thanks to my husband, who upon seeing my hard work, said, “Well, this is kind of odd.”, I don’t think I like the music in it.
WHYYYYYYY do I let him get to me? Regardless, I’m toying around with other things to put in it. Until then…I need another day for the whole reveal. I’ll be back after I find something less “ODD” to put into the frame!

I think it's neat and creative...husbands have a way of doing that... :) Can't wait to see the big reveal!
I love the sheet music!
I totally ignore my Hubby's opinion until the end result is revealed, he usually comes around by then!!
Beautiful frame!! I love the sheet music. Glad to know about the Rub-n-Buff product. I will give it a try. Love & blessings from NC!
I love the sheet music, but feel like it needs something like a giant treble clef in the corner on the mat or something like that. Isn't it funny how husband's rarely chime in but when they do it tends to linger with us?
Your husband's being a stinker. Ignore him - it looks terrific.
Men are from Mars, Chris....it's your job in life to broaden his appreciation for new (old), different, unique and lovely. If you're doubting yourself, try taking a piece of the sheet music to the copy place and enlarge it to fit the mat opening. I like what Wendy said about adorning th mat with a large treble or G clef. Play with it. I personally like your idea.
I love the music in it. There is an underused spot in my music room that has me thinking, 'hmmmmmmmm'
I love the music.. Husbands just have no vision. Don't let him ruin your room for you. Use whatever you want in that frame!
I like the framed sheet music. I agree that it needs "something". I like the idea of the treble clef or other music symbol. Of how about putting something right in the middle of the sheet music?
Darn men. I think it looks great!

dont' listen to him...it's very creative...I love the idea...I just think that there should maybe be a little more contrast...like a black matte...But the music sheets are genious!!
The music is far from ODD! I have a friend who has framed sheet music and I LOVE it. Looks great. Tell him to leave the decorating to you.
I like the sheet music. And, lets be honest- that's all that matters.
:)
Tell him, it's because bathrooms ARE musical! People sing in the shower all the time! Duh, men. Once you explain that to him though, the lightbulb will go off- Trust.
:)
How great! I love the idea with the sheet music. Seriously when have you ever met a man (wells straight man i guess) that can appreciate decorating?
Slap a big ole monogram letter in the middle of that sheet music & call it done - then you can both be happy.
I think it looks great as is, but I know how those husbands can be.
I like the sheet music and the frames. My son sings and hums in the bathroom all the time :). Looking forward to the big reveal!
Personally I think that the sheet music looks incredible! Really!! :) If hubby really doesn't like it though, maybe you could just leave the sheet music like a mat and place a photo on top??
It's true that comments by family can get to us! My dad said ,"Well, that's kind of weird, don't you think?" upon seeing one of my displays with vintage things (junk, he calls it, and not the cool version of junk!) on a visit here, and I haven't put that item out since!
I would ignore hubby. LOL
What color was the bathroom in your first picture??
I think it looks great! It is something that not everyone will have. I love it.
I love the sheet music and the frame...you are so creative!

It's great! Keep the music in it. :D
LOVE it! If you don't use it in the bathroom use it somewhere! Too fantastic to not!
Try thevintagemoth.blogspot.com, they've got some cool stuff you can just copy and print. Hope it helps!
My husband's response to all of my ideas is usually, "I don't think that's gonna look very good." But when the project is all done he loves it!
The frame is beautiful. I did almost the same technique on a very similar wood frame with Ralph Lauren's "Ballroom Gold" metallic paint. I rubbed it on the old frame and it looked great. Found the paint in Home Depot in the goof up pile for $3.00. I put in an old beach photo from the 1950's of the Essex and Sussex hotel in Spring Lake, NJ.
Love your design style.
I love the sheet music!! When I replaced the switch plates in our hallway, we discovered the cutouts were going to show aroud the plates we chose SO I went and got an old hymnal I used for crafting and tore out several pages. Trimmed them to fit the plates and hang over a bit all the way around and VOILA, problem solved. My husband, and all guests, loved it!! The new owners, when we sold, requested we leave all decorative items in place :) and I felt like a queen ;) ha ha Maybe use just one sheet of a beloved hymn and center it on a scrapbook page.
The sheet music is a good idea, I am sure that however you decide to change it (if at all) your husband will grow to like it. Thank to you, I finished my magnet board project this weekend. Check it out if you have time. Maybe you have some Home-made, thrifty magnet advice as well. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Don't listen to the hubby! I like the music and the frame.
no, i love the music in it!!! it matches perfectly!
Some guys just dont GET it, My husband would have said the same thing, if not worse. I try to do things like this and it doesnt go over well, so I keep it simple.
LOVE the sheet music... I would've never thought to do that! That is creative and inventive! Can't wait for the big reveal!
I agree with the people about adding the treble clef. That would look less plain.
I had to LOL about letting your hubby get to you! :) My husband has no sense of design taste yet I still ask his advice. Then I get bummed because he just doesn't "get it!"
Can't wait to see the reaveal!

I LOVE the music! Just sent this creation to me, and do another not-so-odd one for you (and your hubby!)! :)
I think the music is perfect. I love how you have it arranged inside the frame.
I think it's beautiful just the way you made it!
Can't wait to see the finished product
I think the sheet music looks great!

Looks like we might have been working with the same artist :) I love the gold touch and the music - I have a houseful of musicians so I am totally doing that.
well in my humble opinion...love it! cherry
It looks great!
Here's an idea....get one of those sheets of music and ENLARGE it and then stain the enlarged piece with cofee. Maybe? Just a thought.
P.S. I personally like your layered music look, and I don't think it looks odd. .....men
I can't wait to see it finished. I'm working our guest bath, also & am having the.hardest.time figuring out what artwork to do for the walls so, I'm counting on you for some good ideas. :)
Everything is wonderful!!!!

husbands, i can totally relate. i was working on a new postcard and asked my hubby about the position of the text. he started to criticize the image and i said.. "ah ah ah! i didnt ask you about the picture." he has zero fashion sense.. his opinion doesnt hold water. he was offended, but i knew i would be so i stuck it back at him.. HA! touche'
I love your sheet music picture. I haven't seen any since I told my mother I didn't want to take lessons anymore.! That went over real big ~~ she was a music teacher, you see. Ever the rebel.
I just snatched up your cute button for your site and have to come back to see all your crafts.
You did a great job with the coasters.
I triple love the music note thing. I would love to be able to do that. I wouldn't have any idea about rubbing coffee on it. Very interesting. ;)
